Report from meeting - April 9th, 2010

1) Officers for the 2010-11 Season

President: Ray Daly
Vice-President: Carole Auger
Sec'y-Treasurer: Cheryl Daly

2) Agreed that fees remain at $17 - McArthur Lanes management has told us there will only be a $0.20 increase due to the new HST

3) Agreed to start 2010-11 thirty (30) week schedule on Sept. 10th, 2010 and finish on April 15th, 2011 (two weeks off at Christmas)

4) Agreed with Ray Bullard's proposal to add two new teams (one male and one female) to become a 14 team league - format of schedule to be determined (possibly 2 sections of 14 nights (including a position round at the end of each) - then 2 playoff nights

5) Windup at Robbie's on St Laurent (April 16th, 2010)

ADDENDUM to #2:

Management at McArthur erred in telling us that the bowling fees will only increase $.20 but they will, in fact, go up by $.80 due to the HST - thus, on April 16th/10, we passed a motion to increase the weekly fees to $18 for 2010-11.

Sadly, we say goodbye to a very dear friend and bowling colleague ---
rsarazin
1955-2009

All of us were shocked and saddened to learn of Roger Sarazin's death in Brockville on Friday, October 9th, 2009 - he knew everyone at McArthur Lanes and always had a friendly smile for all - maybe 'how did it go tonight?' or some other comment -- I believe many of the CityView bowlers saw him that fateful Friday at the lanes just before he left for Brockville.  He will truly be missed by all and our sincere sympathy goes out to Helga, Natalia, and the rest of the family

McArthur Lanes just won't be the same -- we will always miss you, Roger..............

A donation from the CityView Commercial League, in memory of Roger, has been sent to the Canadian Diabetes Association

~
1) Officers for the 2007-08 season

President: Jim Myronyk
Vice-President: Carole Auger
Sec'y-Treasurer: Marg Willis

2) Agreed that we keep fees at $16 and absorb the small bowling fee increase (approx $.23 per bowler per night)

3) Agreed to start 2007-08 thirty (30) week schedule on Sept. 7th, 2007 and take no time off at Christmas -- playoff night will be March 28th, 2008

4) Suggestion that we use a 7 point system (as opposed to the current 8) (not much support) - also suggested that we go to a 4 person team format and have possibly more teams (lane availability would be a problem - not much support) - thus, current format will continue

5) Windup at Robbie's on St Laurent (March 30th, 2007)

I have just heard that Mati Maelde passed away last night (Friday, Feb 2nd, 2007) - so sorry that our card (letting him know we were all thinking of him) was a bit too late -- Mati bowled many years in the City View Commercial league (as well as several other leagues) and was always a joy to have around - our sincere sympathy to Janet and all of the family

Sadly, we have lost a former member and great friend of our league --

Rolly Sarazin passed away on Thursday, October 16th, 2003. Our deepest sympathy goes out to his wife, his son, Roger (a member of our league), and the rest of the Sarazin family.

In Loving Memory of Frank Desormeaux

(1920-2003)
Our league has regrettably lost another dear comrade - Frank passed away on Wednesday, March 26th, 2003 in his 83rd year. His last bowling game was 191 on February 28th. He was a competitor to the end - and always so friendly to everyone -

Our deepest sympathy to his family -

We will miss you, Frank ----

1922-2003
May Bullard, who succumbed to cancer on Tuesday, February 11th, 2003 in her 81st year with her six children by her side. We cannot begin to express how much she will be missed by all her bowling friends - she was an extremely tough competitor and could always be counted on to get that much needed strike or spare in order for her team to win the game. She last bowled on January 17th and, much to her delight, helped her team to win 8 points against one of the all male teams.

Our deepest sympathy to her family -

We will forever miss you, May ---
