Sabres defeat Bridesburg 7-1, Back on Winning Track
What an excellent win today for the Academy Sabres U10 Indoor Boys, a 7-1 win over the Bridesburg team featuring plenty of offense, stellar defensive play and outstanding goaltending.

Our Sabres started out as a much different team than in recent weeks. They really looked like they were hungry for a big win getting off to a quick lead on two big blasts from Chase Nasife in the first half. Before the half ended two more goals were added by Joey Iannacone.

The Sabres continued to press with their gritty play as the game continued into the second half. Michael Jack Hatala and Jack Thackrah showed their courage charging for the ball in the corners of the offensive zone. Korie Matecki got off two point blank shots but was robbed on each by the Bridesburg netminder. Joey Iannacone completed his seventh hat trick in eight games with his third goal of the game. The Sabres scoring was closed out by Scott Wagner (1) and Tyler Matecki (1) who scored their first goals of the season.

On defense, Nick Colflesh was masterful anchoring behind the offense. He pushed the ball up the middle, off the walls and anywhere he could to shut down the Bridesburg attack. He also assisted on a goal, digging the ball out of the corner of the net and passing it to Wagner for the score.

In goal, Chris Nelson carried a shutout until the 36 minute of the contest, He made save after save, baffling his opponents. Chris has improved his game tremendously in goal in the indoor season.

The next game is at Jardel on Sunday, March 4th vs. Roxborough. Our record is now 4-3-2, good enough for second place in the Indoor League. The season is winding down. Start inviting your family and friends to support your Academy Sabres U10 Boys as they approach the home stretch towards the playoffs.
