D9 Volunteer of the Year: Andre Paradis, Portland LL
Andre has been a tireless advocate for junior and senior baseball and for the past several years has taken on the thankless task of recruiting and organizing regular season and fall play at that level. His efforts have been a credit to the District and, in part due to his hard work, Portland captured the Junior District title for the second straight year and came within a win of capturing the Section 2 Championship… Thank you Andre!
D9 Volunteer Umpire of the Year: Tim Fisher
Tim was a fixture in our umpiring schedule this year, working games at every level and at endless sites throughout the District and Section. When he wasn’t working a game, he was likely at a site watching one, talking mechanics, telling stories and genuinely enjoying every second of the LL Tournament. He capped his summer by representing the District as the plate umpire for the deciding game of the 11-12 Baseball State Championship Series… Thank you Tim!
D9 League Officer of the Year: Steve Wexell, President, Clinton LL
Steve is everything that a DA and his staff could hope for in a league President. Last year, Clinton was the League of the Year, hosting nearly 40 games. This year, Clinton hosted “only” three pools and 25 games, but enjoyed an unexpected District title in 9-10 Baseball and reached the final in both 11-12 Baseball and Softball. Through it all, Steve found a way to be in three places at the same time more than once and dealt with any and every difficulty along the way with a calmness and professionalism that was a credit to Clinton LL… Thank you Steve!
