Ledyard Tournament Results
This weekend at Ledyard we had participants in both the Kids Folkstyle Tournament and the Girls Folkstyle tournament!
Placing at the Girls Tournament were Cheyenne Carden and Hunter Carden both finishing with Silver Medals.
At the Co-ed Kids Tournament we had the following results:
Gold Winners: Michael Elias, Max Flanagan, Ben Onofrio and Zack Roth
Silver Winners: Dakota Carden, Justin Elias, Matt Elias, Owen Gottlick, Kyle McCarthy and Tyler Merritt
Bronze Winners: Dalton Carden, Taylor Jacobs and Kevin Wivell

Connecticut Hurricanes Participate with Team Connecticut in Wildwood NJ National Duals
Team Connecticut, a team of highly competitive Connecticut wrestlers from throughout the state, participated at the SJWA-VAC National Duals team championships at the Wildwood, New Jersey Convention Center. Team Connecticut wrested off against All-Star teams from Pennsylvania, Virginia, West Virginia, New Jersey, Massachussetts and the Carolina's.
The competition was extremely tough and our wresters got to see some of the best youth and young adults in the country! This caliber of wrestling is what our team members should be striving to achieve!
Thank you to our wresters for representing The Connecticut Hurricanes well both on and off the mats! Competing for Team Connecticut from the Hurricanes were: Joe DeMichele, Ben Onofrio and Kevin Wivell.

Super Sunday Bobcat Brawl
Superbowl Sunday was a great day for wrestlers in South Windsor, whether you were rooting for the Champion NY Giants or the Pats! The tournament ran quickly and the wrestlers got four or five matches each!

Wild and Busy describe this large tournament run in the Berlin High School Gym last weekend! The Hurricanes had a strong contingent of wrestlers participate and pulled down a bushell of Bronz, Silver and Gold!!

Milford State Qualifier Tournament
Milford was the site to qualify for the State of Connecticut Novice and Middle School Championships. We had 20 wrestlers participate with 19 qualifying and one wrestler having to withdraw due to illness. Great Job by everyone!

Coach Tom Dowler led a team of Novice (first year) wrestlers to the Coventry Tournament this past Saturday. These wrestlers worked very hard, never gave up and stayed as a team to support and cheer each other on!

Wildwood NJ National Duals Friday to Sunday 2/9 to 2/11/07
The Connecticut Hurricanes continue to supply top wrestlers to the Connecticut National Team to compete at multi state national top tier competitions!
The Team Connecticut team was split into an Elementary and Intermediate Squad. Both teams acquitted themselves well and our wrestlers competed against the top squads in the East!
Hurricanes Competing in Wildwood were: Derek Bertolini, Jack Bertolini, Cody Bilcheck, Eddie Carroll, Will Crisco, Joe DeMichele, Ben Onofrio, and Kevin Wivell.

Bobcat Brawl - Super Bowl Sunday Tourney!
Super Bowl Sunday was another Super Sunday for the CT Hurricanes Wrestling Club! We had a good turn-out and our wrestlers competed hard and continued to improve as we head toward the State Tournament.

The Daniel Hand High School Wrestling Booster Club did a great job coordinating this event! Thanks go out to all those parents who volunteered from the High School, Polson Middle School and CT Hurricanes wrestling clubs. Special thanks to the Daniel Hand High School Wrestlers who helped at the tables, were runners or contributed to the smooth running of this tournament. All matches were completed by around 5:00 PM, which was the FIRST TIME ALL YEAR that a tournament ran on time!!

CT Hurricanes Wrestling Team Takes 2nd Place at 2006 Middle School State Championship Duals
The Madison-based Connecticut Hurricanes Wrestling team took second place at the Middle School Wrestling Team State Championships on Sunday, March 5th. This is the second consectutive year the team has placed second at the USA Wrestling Connecticut sanctioned event, losing each year only to Danbury.

Connecticut Hurricanes Qualify for State Championships
The Madison-based Connecticut Hurricanes youth wrestling team had great success on the mats at USA Wrestling Connecticuts novice and middle school state championship qualifier tournament on Sunday, February 19th at Platt Vocational School in Milford. The team qualified 17 of 19 novice and middle school wrestlers for the State Championships.

Team Connecticut, USAWCT's national team, walked away with a first place team win at the Amsterdam Tournament in Amsterdam, NY on Saturday, January 14th.

The Connecticut Hurricanes Wrestling Team Takes Second Place
The Madison based Connecticut Hurricanes youth wrestling team finished their second season on a high note, taking second place at the USA Wrestling Connecticut Middle School State Championship duals in Danbury on Sunday, March 6th.. The team defeated four top Connecticut clubs and was handed their only defeat from a powerful Danbury team. .
Team participants included Kevin Frey, Eddie Carroll, Andrew Federico, Tucker Hackett, John Jongbloed, Taylor Jacobs, Derek Bertolini, Joe Acquarulo, Eric Anderson, Mike DiNicola, Brian Onofrio, Mike Vernik, Steven DeMichele, Ian Roth, Frank Funaro, Dan Kilburn, Jon Chittenden, Cody Bias and Joe DeMichele.

All Novice and Middle School Connecticut Hurricanes Qualify for the State Championships. Bantam and Midget Divisions Also Shine.
The Hurricanes team again racked up plenty of medals at each of two tournaments on Sunday, February 21, 2005. The bantam and midget division wrestlers attended the Meriden tournament and garnered 11 medals, while all 23 novice and middle school wrestlers qualified in Milford on Sunday for the upcoming state championships at Hillhouse High School on Sunday, February 27th, 2005.
