Little League Softball Days in State of CT
I just wanted to make you aware that I have coordinated two Little League Softball Days in the state of Connecticut.

One Little League Softball Day is at the University of Hartford on Sunday, March 29 at noon. After the game, there will be a meet and greet session with the players.
There is a discount admission for Little League players, families, and coaches. For a Little League Player and siblings 14 and under, the admission is $2.00. The admission for coaches, parents, adults, and anyone over 14 is $4.00.

The second Little League Softball Day is at Western Connecticut State University. It is on Saturday, April 18. There is a double header, but we encourage the Little League girls to go to the second game, 3pm. We have found in the pass that a double header is sometimes too long for the girls. Again, after the 3pm game, there will be a meet and greet with the players. This game is FREE OF CHARGE.

Please encourage your girls to wear their Little League uniform or anything that supports your Little League or town.

For those of you in the Willimantic area, I am trying to contact the Eastern Connecticut Coach to arrange a Little League Day there as well.

A flyer advertising the event and a release from Little League International will be coming soon. Please get this information out to your Presidents and Softball Reps.

Thank you,
Eileen Holden

Minor League Softball

Minor League Softball may be operated within each division for younger players with less experience. The minor league program may be players ages 7-12. Local leagues may establish divisions for "pitching machine," "coach pitch" or "player pitch." Leagues may adopt these options.,A local league might have its 7&8 year olds in the Minor League program, Coach Pitch Division, while its 9&10 year olds are in the Player Pitch Division. However, by local option, some of the 9-year-olds could "play down" in the coach pitch division, and some of the 8-year-olds could "play up." This is entirely the choice of the local league board of directors. Rosters may be composed of between 12 and 20 players, but most leagues have rosters in the 12-15 range. The diamond used is a 60-foot diamond and the pitching distance is 35 feet.

9-10 Year Old Softball Division

The 9&10 Year Old Softball Division was established as a tournament program in 1994. It gives players of this age the opportunity to experience tournament competition, up to state level. Players on these teams can be chosen from among the Major Division Softball and/or Minor Division Softball teams as long as the league age fall between 9 & 10 per the LL age verification. The diamond used is a 60-foot diamond and the pitching distance is 35 feet.

Little League 11 & 12 Softball

Little League Softball Division (sometimes known as the Major Division) is for players  ages 9-12. A local league may choose to limit its Major Division to 10-, 11- and 12-year-olds, or 11-12-year-olds. The local league has an option to choose a Tournament Team (All Stars) of 11-12-year-olds from within this division, and the team may enter the International Tournament.

Junior League Softball Division
Junior League Softball Division is a program for players ages 13-14, using a conventional 60-foot diamond with a pitching distance of 40 feet. (A modified diamond is available during the regular season.) The local league has an option to choose a Tournament Team (All Stars) of 13-14-year-olds from within this division (and/or from within the Senior League Softball Division), and the team may enter the International Tournament.

Senior League Softball
Senior League Softball Division is for players 13-16 years old, using a 60-foot diamond with a pitching distance of 40 feet. The local league has an option to choose a Tournament Team (All Stars) of 13-16-year-olds from within this division (and/or from within the Junior League Softball or Big League Softball divisions), and the team may enter the International Tournament.
