Second Field Looking Good!
Thanks to the volunteer efforts of Carl Hoyt, Stan Longton, Mark Meyers and Mark Bombardo (along with some of our own Pop Warner members), our new field has been cleared of rocks and has been seeded. It will look awesome in no time at all! This second field is greatly needed for our growing program, and we appreciate the efforts of everyone involved in getting it ready for us!

Congratulations CNY Pop Warner - The Kids Do Come First
We are excited and proud to announce that Central Square Redmen and Cicero Falcons have agreed that the Central Square Students in Onondaga County now have a choice in which Pop Warner program they wish to participate!!!

This is a first for our area, and a true showing that the kids really do come first! Each program will benefit in football and cheerleading with kids that join their program because they WANT to, not because they HAVE to!!!

Everyone is, and will be happier for many seasons ahead. The leaders from Cicero Pop Warner and Central Square Pop Warner "practiced what they preached" over the past few weeks as they worked out an agreement that would be beneficial to all involved - they used teamwork, hardwork and good sportsmanship to come to this resolution. In the end, coming out with a message they are constantly trying to teach our kids - The program is meant to inspire the youth of our community!!

So, are you inspired?? Good, be sure to check back soon for dates and locations of our 2006 Season Football & Cheerleading Registration to sign up for your first season as a Central Square Redmen Football Player or Cheerleader!

Cheerleaders Move Their Way Up !!
On Sunday, October 23rd, three squads from Central Square Pop Warner competed in the CNY Cheerleading Competition which was held at the War Memorial in Syracuse. It was a great day, and yet another first for Central Square Pop Warner, as all three teams won and moved on to the next level. Our Jr. Pee Wee Small Novice squad placed 3rd, our Pee Wee Small Novice placed 1st, and our Midget Large Novice placed 1st. They all did a great job and spent a busy week preparing for the Eastern Regional Northwest Qualifier, which was held at the War Memorial on Saturday, October 29th.

At the qualifier on the 29th, our girls competed against teams from all over the region including Greater Watertown Pop Warner, Western NY Pop Warner and Tri-Valley Pop Warner. Once again, our girls made us proud and two of our three teams qualified to advance to the Eastern Region Championships in New Jersey. This is another first for our program because we have never had two teams advance to the Eastern Region Championships. Our Pee Wee squad and our Midget squad will travel to Trenton New Jersey on November 20th, where they will compete for a chance to move on to the National Cheerleading & Dance Championships held at Disney's Wide World of Sports Complex in Orlando Fla. This event takes place from Tues-Dec 6th to Fri-Dec 9th.

All of our squads have done wonderful this season, sharing their spirit and showing everyone what Central Square Pop Warner is all about!! Great job girls, and good luck in New Jersey!!   We also thank the community for all their support, and look forward to sharing the news that our girls are on their way to Disney!

Football Players Are Winning Too!
Our football players have also been busy this season, and on Sunday, October 23rd, our Midget team competed against Westvale in final playoff game of the season. They won this game with a score of 8 - 6, and moved on to the Championship games, which were held at Alliance Stadium on Friday, October 28th. This was an awesome game, and a great experience for our football players. They played a great game against Phoenix, which ended in a tie, and our boys walked away as Co- Champions for the season.

Their season hasn’t ended yet though, because they have been invited to participate in the Empire State Classic games, and will play their first game on Sunday, November 6th in Rochester. If they win this game, they will advance once again. Our Midget team has come up against some tough competition, and making it this far into the season is a great accomplishment! Great job guys, and good luck in Rochester.

Cheerleaders Get Their Time To Shine!!

New Football Field
Everyone has taken notice of all the activity going on down near the equipment building, as our brand new, second football field takes form. We are very excited, and the extra field is much needed for our growing program.

The members of Central Square Pop Warner would like to thank the following people for making our new field a reality:

Fred Beardsley
Had Bisbo
Sen. James Wright
Bruce Rio
Mark Bombard
Bob Clark

The support, hard work and financial help provided by the above individuals is much appreciated by all of us.

CS Pop Warner Concession Stand

With the beginning of the 2005 season, our Concession Stand will be up and running for business! This is our biggest fundraiser, so don't forget to sign up on the schedule (located in the Concession stand) to help out a few hours each week. We need lots of manpower to keep the stand running smooth, and everyone's help is appreciated.

Chicken Barbeque
There will be a chicken barbeque during our first Football & Cheerleading Registration - Saturday, June 4th. It will be held across from the Central Square Firehouse, at the Bank of America (formerly FLEET Bank) from
11:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. So, come sign up your kids, and get lunch to go!!!

CS Pop Warner Community Says Good-Bye
Thursday March 24, 2005 was a sad day for the Central Square Pop Warner Community, as they learned that one of their favorite and most dedicated coaches had passed away. Jodi M. Turner, who resided in Central Square, had been a cheerleading coach for our program since 1999.   Her unexpected death following a short illness has left us all with heavy hearts.

Jodi's dedication and enthusiasm for the Football and Cheerleading program was apparent from the day she and her family joined our organization. Jodi started her coaching career at the Flag level, where she coached the youngest girls, ages 5 and 6. As her daughter and the other Flag cheerleaders moved up through the program, Jodi moved with them, coaching many of the same girls year after year. Her love and affection for her squad was apparent on the sidelines during games as well as during the numerous cheerleading competitions that her teams attended.

What was meant to be a lifetime commitment for Jodi ended all too soon, but we can honestly say that because of the heart and soul she poured into our program, she has left us with enough joy and memories to last us all a lifetime, and for that we are grateful. When our 2005 Cheerleading season begins, and we all come together at the Pop Warner field for the first time in August, we will bring Jodi with us in our hearts and let her guide us through our best season ever!!!

For all the girls who have loved her as a coach over the years, and for those who were lucky enough to call her a friend, we say “Thank You” Jodi for the great times, and wonderful memories.   We love you, and we will miss you dearly.

Volunteers Needed....No Experience Necessary
The Central Square Redmen Pop Warner Football & Cheerleading program would like to invite you to volunteer some of your time to help us keep our program running successfully.

Each year, since the inception of our program, our numbers have increased steadily in both football and cheerleading. As the number of children in our program increases, so should the number of our parent volunteers.

Help is always needed during the season for jobs such as play checking, running the chains, field set up, working in the concession stand, helping with fundraising and much much more. Please become actively involved in your child's football or cheerleading experience by helping out whenever you can.

For many, volunteering for this program does not end when the season ends. The members of our board, and a few other parent volunteers work year round to keep this program going strong. Please feel free to contact any one of our board members if you would like to help out with things during our "off" season.

Thank You!!!
Members of the C.S. Pop Warner Board as well as football and cheerleading families would like to say a big THANK YOU to three individuals who have held Board positions since the inception of our program. For ten years, Kevin Hopkins, Jackie Fleming and Vic Hasto have dedicated countless hours of hard work and dedication to keep this program growing and running strong. We know they couldn't have done it with out the many other individuals who have been along for the ride, but since they are part of the original group, we felt they deserved special attention!!!
