Information about 5 year old program
CSNLL's 5 year old program is open to any five year old in the Roanoke area. Although our 5 year old program is sanctioned by Little League Baseball, 5 year olds are not allowed to play on Roanoke Public fields. The program is open to any 5 year old (boys and girls) and players DO NOT need to live within CSNLL's boundaries.
We are able to offer the 5 year old program because Petroleum Marketers, Inc. (owners of Stop-in Food Stores) have allowed CSNLL the generous use of the private field beside their corporate office on Ogden Road. Thanks PMI!!!
Your child must be 5 years old by April 30th. The program's purpose is to teach young children the basics of the game (which way to run the bases, which end of the bat to hold, how to throw, etc.) Scores are not kept, competition is frowned upon, parents are very much involved, and EVERYONE has a wonderful, fun, time. Insurance, pictures, shirt, and cap are included in registration fee. Players are encouraged to wear long pants (jeans or sweats).
A parent or adult guardian is required to be at the field at all times. No dropping off children. The parent or guardian should be prepared to go on the field with their child and help with instruction. (Can you imagine 1 coach trying to teach 12 to 14 five year olds at the same time?)
If you have a five year old that is interested in a fun, active, learning activity please consider registering for this program. Because of the popularity of this program, the available positions fill up quickly. Remember, you do not need to live within CSNLL's boundries, and we have players from throughout the Roanoke Valley. However, if you do not live within our boundries, your child must play in his/her own community's program starting with age 6.
