Division 1 Program Overview
Division 1 is a soccer program offered to players in the U11-U19 age groups who are interested in competing against teams from other soccer clubs both in the New Orleans area and across the state. The program provides a great environment for players of all skill levels to mix competition, professional training and fun. Division 1 teams provide a level of competition that is more advanced than teams, but not as intense as teams. The program was orignally called “Rec Plus” because the aim was to create a competitive “step-up” from recreational programs such as intramural games.
Schedule: Teams are formed after tryouts (see dates below). Games begin in late August, playing a competitive schedule against other clubs and in local tournaments, usually within a 150 mile radius from New Orleans. The game schedule is dependant on coach and parents. Generally, Division 1 teams will have one or two games scheduled per weekend. The team generally plays in 2-3 tournaments per semester, and one might require overnight stay. All teams are encouraged to compete for the prestigious Pelican Cup (state championship) at the end of the season in early May.
Training: A unique aspect of CSA’s Division 1 program is that all coaching and training is performed by a CSA professional coach.
PLEASE NOTE: A parent volunteer may be a team coach if the team prefers (in which case fees would be adjusted).
Cost: The cost for the 2009/20010 season is $830. This fee includes the following:
- Full Time Professional Coaching - Twice a week training and weekend coaching
- Div 1 Team Camp
- LSA Player Registration Fee (which includes a secondary insurance policy)
- Field Maintenance
Referee and tournament fees are not included in this cost (approximately $120).
Scholarships may be available.
