Welcome to the home of the Steamers, an amateur baseball team from Mantua, Ohio. The Steamers are a part of the Cuyahoga County AAA wooden bat league... We are now in our third season of existence and after winning 18 league games in two seasons we have reloaded and are expecting to win that many this season alone, catapulting the Steamers to the top of the league in '06.

This Just In...
On Monday, October 2, 2006, the Cuyahoga County AAA determined that certain team and player statistics were falsified during the All-Cuyahoga County AAA Team selection meeting.
Therefore, in addition to Jeff Stoll, Starting Pitcher Matt DeBlauw was honored as a member of the All-Cuyahoga County AAA Team. This now gives the Crestwood Steamers, winners of the 2006 Cuyahoga County AAA League Tournament, two (2) representatives on the all-league team.
For Matt DeBlauw, this well deserved honor came after posting a 5-2 record with 1 no decision in 8 starts. In 46 innings pitched, DeBlauw compiled 44 strikeouts to just 26 walks, nearly a 2 to 1 ratio, as well as a brilliant 2.28 ERA.
Congratulations Matt!!

Stoll Receives Recognition
Thirdbaseman Jeff Stoll was honored earlier this week by being named to the All-Cuyahoga County AAA Team. Jeff was the lone representative from a highly successful Crestwood Steamer team that won the 2006 Cuyahoga County AAA League Tournament Championship.
Before being injured in the first week of July, Stoll was batting 0.403 with 6 doubles, a triple and 21 RBI in league play. Unfortunately for Jeff, the injury he sustained kept him out of the lineup for the remainder of the year, but his mid-season numbers were strong enough to warrant his consideration.
Congratulations Jeff!!

Steamers win opening game!!
Today the Steamers played the Berea BlueSox at Crestwood High School in their first real game of the season and came away with a 5-4 come from behind victory. Terry Dattilio started on the mound for the Steamers and coasted for 2 easy innings. In the third, however, he ran into some control problems and was relieved by Greg Wiggers with 2 outs and the bases loaded. After a passed ball allowed a run to score, Wiggers did not allow another as he went 3 1/3 innings of scoreless relief to pick up the win. Matt Thomas came on in the seventh and induced an easy grounder and then struck out two batters to record the save. The Steamers hitters buckled down after they were faced with a 4-0 deficit after top of the third. Panic didn't set in and the Steamers chipped away slowly, getting a single run in both the third and the fourth innings to cut the lead to 4-2. In the fifth, the Steamers took the lead by scoring three runs. Jeff Stoll paced the Steamers with a triple and an RBI, and Ryan Bartolon and Rick Shimko each had a double. Next game is Thursday at Foltz Field against the Lake County Knights at 8:30pm

Steamers see first live action!!
Today the Steamers scrimmaged the Cleveland Spartans at Crestwood High School and came away with a victory, winning 12-3. Being that it was a scrimmage, it was good to get the pitchers some work off of the mound with a batter, and great for the batters to finally get to see live pitching instead of batting practice. Next TEAM practice is next Sunday, May 7th at 1pm. First real game is the Saturday after that!!
