Join the Rockets!
The CRUSA Rockets are looking for three girls to join our roster for play this coming Fall in the PAGS U14 Premiership Arsenal Division. The Rockets, in addition to entering several top area tournaments throughout the year, will be training outdoors in July in preparation for the CRUSA/FC Bucks Invitational Tournament held in August and the Lehigh Valley United FC Lou Ramos Labor Day Classic Tournament held in early September.

New Team Trainer
Please welcome Steve Mellor to the Rockets!
Steve graduated from Neshaminy High School in 2002, where he was an NSCAA All-American and Pennsylvania Gatorade Player of the Year. Steve played four years of Division I soccer (one year at Appalachian State and three years at Duquesne University) where he received the following honors: collegesoccernews.com All-American Freshman team, 2nd team All-Southern Conference, 1st All-Conference A-10, 3rd team NSCAA Regional All-American. After college, Steve played professionally in the USL 2nd Division for the Pittsburgh Riverhounds (2006). Steve was the Assistant Men's Soccer coach at the University of Central Florida (Division I, Conference USA) from April 2007 to April 2008.
Currently, Steve holds a USSF "Y" License (National Youth Coaching License) and, in addition to training the Rockets, coaches with YSC (Youth Soccer Center) located in Wayne, PA. Please be sure to introduce yourself to him at one of our upcoming training sessions.

Here are the tentative dates for the Fall 2009 CRUSA U14 Girls Travel Team Tryouts. Check the CRUSA web site for the official dates.

Monday, April 20 at 6:00 PM (Rain date is: Saturday, April 25 at 9:00 AM)
Tryout 2
Thursday, May 7 at 6:00 PM (Rain date is: Saturday, May 16 at 11:00 AM)
Please remember that each girl will need to register online with CRUSAprior to attending either of the tryout dates listed above. Attendance at both tryouts is strongly suggested with attendance at one being arequirement for every girl.

CRUSA 2009 Travel Team Tryouts
Instructions for registering for CRUSA Travel Team tryouts this Spring have been posted to the web site. Be sure to visit and take a look at the new process, schedule, and fees. Any girl interested in playing for the Rockets beginning with the Fall 2009 outdoor season will need to register in advance and attend at least one of the scheduled tryouts.

Welcome John McGinley to the Rockets!
John McGinley has taken over as team trainer for the Rockets and we're looking forward to working with him during the remaining Fall outdoor season. John will be with us again as we start up the Spring outdoor season in the Rock Spring League. John's been actively involved with CRUSA for several years as both a coach and trainer and is currently the Varsity Head Coach for the Hopewell Valley High School Bulldogs soccer team.

Welcome Kimmy!
The Rockets would like to welcome Kimmy Leigh to the coaching staff! Kimmy's a graduate of Saint Joseph’s University and accomplished four-year starter for the Hawks earning several selections to the Atlantic 10 All-Conference and Tournament selections, along with team MVP honors. Kimmy has previous soccer coaching experience with the programs at St. Joseph’s University, FC Bucks, and FC Delco. We're looking forward to having her extensive soccer skills available to the team during our training and games in the upcoming year.

2008 Hershey Invitational Results
The Rockets started off the tournament by playing the Old Bridge Blue Thunder from New Jersey. It turned into a well-fought match with both sides having several scoring opportunities, but only able to convert one goal each and the game ended in a 1-1 tie. The late afternoon game against the York Premier Flames started off well, but several scores within a short time shifted the momentum to the Flames and the Rockets never found the back of the net and lost 4-0. The game on Sunday against FC Copa Aventura was played on one of the better turf fields at In The Net facilities near Hershey. The Rockets moved out to a 2-0 lead and then played tight defense the rest of the way for a 2-0 victory allowing them to finish the tournament with a record of 1-1-1. Like last year, the tournament was well-run and lot of fun for everyone!

The second tryout date for CRUSA U13 Girls Travel Teams (originally scheduled for Thursday, May 8) has now been rescheduled for Saturday, May 17th at the Northampton Township Civic Center Field 3. Please arrive for check in at 9:00am and be prepared to begin the tryout at 9:30am.

Monday, May 12
EPIC Tournament Results
The Rockets started off play in the 2008 EPIC Tournament going up against the Lower Merion Charge on Saturday afternoon at the Falls Township Community Park. This game was a well-fought match with the Rockets having several more scoring opportunities than their opponents, but failing to find the back of the net and the game ended in a 0-0 tie. Next up were the Wilson Chaos with the Rockets moving out to 2-0 lead before giving up a goal late in the second half and eventually winning by a score of 2-1. The early morning game on Sunday was against the HMMS Eagle FC Force. In the first half the Rockets had several scoring opportunities while holding the opposition scoreless, but a couple of great shots by the Force in the second half were good enough for goals and the Rockets lost 2-0. Finishing the tournament with a 1-1-1 recored against three teams from PAGS U12 Premiership Manchester United Group is an excellent result and shows the Rockets can play with any team. Coach John and I would like to say "Thanks!" to the Moms for sharing their special weekend with us and to Linda Donohue for the delicious gifts given to each Mom at the end of the tournament.
