BRACKET PLAY RESULTS
Wednesday, July 15 v. Blaine WIN 27-2 The 9’s defeated Blaine for the second time in the tournament 27-2 in four innings. The offensive performance was stellar with every player scoring at least once. They advance to the semifinals on Thursday 7/16 at 5:00 on field #1 vs. Crystal. A special thanks to everyone that has come to show their support thus far. MG
Thursday, July 16 v. Crystal WIN 11-9 Thursday brought about a battle of unbeatens. CRNLL and Crystal both entered the game 4-0 in the tournament. The 9 year olds managed to stay unbeaten by defeating a very tough Crystal team with an 11-9 victory in six innings. National took a 2-0 lead in the first and grew the lead to 5-0 in the third. Crystal battled back to tie the game at 5 a piece in the bottom of the fifth inning. National responded by scoring 6 runs in the top of the sixth to go ahead 11-5. Crystal displayed great effort and battled back to load the bases. Trent Fredenburg entered in relief with the bases loaded and helped record all 3 outs by striking out 2 and after juggling a shot back at him at the mound he fired the ball to a stretching Matt Hausker completing the game winning 1-3 put-out.
They will play a very tough Plymouth/New Hope team on Saturday at 2:00 in Crystal for the Championship. This is sure to be a great game as both teams are unbeaten and possess great hitting, fielding and pitching.
We hope you can make it to support us and cheer us on. MG
Championship game Saturday, July 18th v. Plymouth/New Hope WIN 13-12
The championship game was a battle of two unbeaten teams. Plymouth/New Hope proved to be a scoring machine averaging better than 14 runs per game and had allowed only 6 runs the entire tournament. The game started off with a bang with P/NH scoring 4 runs in the top of the first inning. But the test of a good team is always their ability to respond...and respond we did. We scored 8 runs in the bottom of the first and sent a message that we were there to play. The defense held strong for the next 3 innings allowing only 2 runs and the offense continued to add runs increasing the lead to 13-6. In the top of the sixth inning P/NH went on a furious rally scoring 6 runs in the top of the sixth and had the tying run on third and the go ahead run of second base when their #5 batter popped up to Michael Crosby to end the game.
I would like to thank the players; Caleb Ness, Cole Olson, Logan Severson, Brock Rohloff, Garrett Michaelson, Mickey Zeller, Tyler George, Michael Crosby, Matt Hausker, Max Ploof, Myles Garrick, Joey Miller, Nathan Klisch and Trent Fredenburg for their commitment this past month and for all of their effort. I would also like to recognize Doug Miller, Robert Breitbach and Travis Ness for all of their efforts and time spent. Last but not least I would like to thank the parents for all of their support and cheers throughout this great experience.
Coach Mike
