Stingers Tourney
Team Welsh Takes Second-3rd time this season!
The girls of summer started slow in the Vernon Hills Stingers tourney but finished with quite a bang! They started Sunday morning battling out a tie game through two innings of international tie breaker to win and play another game.
The 18's won three straight on Sunday go advance to the championship game. They fell short in an extremely hard played game 4-2. Pitching, as always, was on cue and the girls ran hot and cold all weekend. All in All everyone was really happy with their play.
After the game we did say goodbye to one of our original Crush Memebers...Our beloved Megan is going to college and most likely will not play next summer with the Crush. Megan has been a rock on this team since the age of eleven. It was very sad to know we may not see her wear the orange anymore, but I know it will always be in her heart! I am so proud to have coached this wonderful young lady, and expect to hear big things from Olivet where she will be attending.

Team Welsh takes 2nd in SportsJam Tourney
Seven games in two days...One catcher, ten players. The old ladies of the Crush came through with flying colors playing great softball, shutting out teams in four of the games. The Crush allowed only six runs to score on them all weekend. They finished with a 4-2-1 record which placed them in second for the tourney. Pitching, and defense were top notch. Hitting a bit hot & cold as usual..And then there is Skippy..Seven games behind the plate in two days - five on Saturday . She was brilliant! Special thanks to Jamie Lissy who filled in for an inning or two behind the plate to give Skippy a breather in one game & who did a great job playing short for the weekend! (picture to follow)

Team Welsh places second in Peoria!
18u team Welsh takes second in East Peoria!!
What a weekend of softball! The 18u team started out a little shaky, but then found the groove or shall I say the bats. The girls were unstoppable sending hit after hit out to the gaps. Elimination Sunday started strong with the girls racking up 8 runs by the fifth for a quick game, then battling back in the last inning of the game to beat and extremely tough LGSA Lightning team 3-2. We fell short in the championship game losing 5-3 to a well disciplined express team. Two out with two runners on - we just ran out of outs! (albums on 18u page)

12U Team Takes 2nd in Consolation
The 12u girls may have had a tough day on Saturday, but they came back and battled to the consolation championship. The second game of the day took them into international tie breaker which they won in a tough game. The girls then took on the lightning on the championship, but ran out of steam and placed a second. Coach Lowe is really happy with the way the girls adjusted and fought.
Great Job Ladies!!!
