Coon Rapids/Andover American Little League: 2009 Divisions
This division is for a few 6 year olds and all 7 & 8 year old players, many of whom are experiencing organized baseball for the first time. Players of age 6 and who have completed one year of T-Ball may choose to play in either the T-Ball or A Division. This is a "coach pitch" league, with the purpose of providing a fun atmosphere, as well as the instruction necessary for each player to develop their individual skills. Players will experience the thrill of competition and the rewards of team play. We strive to provide equal playing time for all players as well as experience at all positions on the field. We bat the full lineup each game. There are usually 2 games per week, and 1 or more practices.
AA (10U)
This division is for all 9 year olds, and most 10 year old players. The league has been designed to help the players adjust to "live" pitching. Emphasis is placed on teaching the fundamental skills of baseball and teamwork. Players will generally get at least 12 defensive outs per game, and we bat the full lineup. There are usually 2 games per week, and 2 or more practices. Players are not eligable for District/State Post-Season Tournament teams.
AAA (12U)
This division is for 10-12 year old players who have not been selected to play on a Majors division team. This league is focused on continuing to develop the individual skills needed to advance to the Majors division. Typically, only 10 year old players with advanced skills will be drafted to play at this level. Players are guaranteed 9 defensive outs per game, and we bat the full lineup. There are usually 2-3 games per week, and 2 or more practices. Players are eligable for District/State Post-Season Tournament teams.
Majors (12U)
This division is the highest level of Little League play. Players are selected through a draft process and need to attend the pre-season "Player Evaluation". This division is for sufficiently skilled 10-12 year old players. Few, if any 10 year olds will play at this level. Roster size is limited to 12 players per team. Players are guaranteed 6 defensive outs and 1 at-bat per game. Playing time is earned and decided by the head coach. There are usually 2-3 games per week, and 3 or more practices. Players are eligable for District/State Post-Season Tournament teams.
T-Ball (6U)
This division is for 5 & 6 year old players. This is a non-competitive league with no standings - Just FUN! Our goals are to learn about basic baseball skills and to enjoy team play. This introduction is a great start to Little League! There are usually 1 game per week, and 1 or more practices.
