Craig Cougars: 2007-2008 Season

The Cougars romped over the Regents, winning by pin in eight weight classes.  The quickest pin of the night was by Freshman Siven Furseth at 26 seconds.  The starting weight class was 215.

At 215lbs, Alex Burdick started off the meet with a pin at 2:26.  At 285, Boyd Maske came up with a pin at 1:11.  at 103lbs, Siven Furseth waited 26 seconds before pinning his opponent.  At 112, Jamie Kumlien continued to be impresive with a pin at 1:12.  At 119lbs, Chris Pierce lost in a tough OT battle 8-10.  At 125lbs, Chris Simonson lost by pin.  At 130, Travis Davis won by pin in 45 seconds.  At 135lbs, Troy Davis lost 4-11.  At 140, Brandon Krause won by tech fall 16-1.  At 145lbs, Ian Kopp lost by pin.  At 152lbs, Alex Kaster won by pin at 3:18.  At 160, Kevin Wells lost by tech fall.  At 171lbs, Trevor Gregoire won by pinfall at 2:55.  And finishing off the Regents at 189, Blair Kessler won by pin at 3:59.

Final Score: Janesville Craig 53, Madison West 23

Drilon Grajcevci won by pin, Cody Jensen won by pin, Brian Alvarez won by pin, Eddie Jenks lost, Nick Kind won, Ben Lane won by pin, and Big Kyle Upmann won by pin.

The young Cougars battled hard, and kept the meet close, but fell to the visiting Vikings 24-47.  The Cougars looked much improved since the Beloit meet, and put a scare into the defending Big 8 Champs.

Starting weight was 152lbs.

At 152lbs, Alex Kaster lost by pinfall.  At 160, Trevor Gregoire lost in a close match 5-9.  At 171lbs, Drilon Grajcevci lost by major decision 5-18.  At 189lbs, Blair Kessler reversed the trend and won by pinfall at 1:48.  At 215lbs, Alex Burdick showed the animal side and came up with a pin at 4:16.  At 285, Boyd Maske had his opponent pinned, but lost by pinfall himself.  At 103lbs, Siven Furseth ran up the score, then got a pin at 3:29.  At 112, Jamie Kumlien lost by pin.  At 119lbs, Chris Pierce lost by major decision 2-11.  At 125lbs, Chris Simonson never gave up, and came out with an OT win 8-7.  At 130, Travis Davis dominated more than the score shown 5-0.  At 135, Troy Davis lost by pin.  At 140lbs, Brandon Krause lost by pin.  Ans at 145lbs, Ian Kopp lost by pin.

The Purple Knights  were pumped up for the visiting Cougars, and dominated the young Cougars 51-22.  The Beloit squad was the strongest seen in many years, and could compete for the conference title.

At 130lbs, Jesse Davila lost by pin.  At 135, Brandon Krause lost by pin.  At 140lbs, Troy Davis lost by pin.  At 145, Ian Kopp won by default (Unsportsmanlike-bite).  At 152lbs, Alex kaster lost by pin.  At 160lbs, Trevor Gregoire lost in a hard fought battle 2-4.  At 171, Drilon Grajcevci lsot by pin.  At 189lbs, Blair Kessler continued to impress with a 57 second pin.  At 215, Alex Burdick lost by tech fall.  At 285lbs, Boyd Maske lost by decision 3-7.  At 103lbs, freshman sensation Siven Furseth pinned his opponent in 44 seconds.  At 112, James Kumlien just missed a tech fall, winning 15-1.  At 119lbs, Chris Pierce lost by pin.  And at 125, Chris Simonson lost by pin.

Siven Furseth placed First!  The Cougar team placed 9th in the 18 team tournament.  Seniors Blair Kessler and Trevor Gregoire eached placed 4th, in an apparently tough tourny.

The Cougars pounced on the Spartans,  58-11.  Seven Cougars won by pin.  Trevor Gregoire, Boyd Maske, and Siven Furseth are undefeated in their matches so far.

At 135, Jesse Davila lost by tech fall.  At 140lbs, Troy Davis won by decision 15-12.  At 145lbs, Jeff Armi lost by pinfall.  At 152, Alex Kaster won by pin at 4:51.  At 160lbs, Trevor Gregoire came up with a pin at 1:20.  At 171, Drillon Grajcevci won by decision 10-4.  At 189lbs, Alex Burdick won by pin at 2:30.  At 215lbs, Blair Kessler had the fastest pin at 21 seconds.  At 285, Boyd Maske also won by pin, at 4:33.  At 103, Siven Furseth also had a quick pin at 41 seconds.  At 112lbs, Jamie Kumlein had the second fastest pin of the meet at 26 seconds.  At 119, Chris Pierce won by major decision 16-8.  At 125lbs, Chris Simonson won by decision 5-0.  At 130lbs, Travis Davis won in a close match 6-4.

The Cougar team went 2-3 at the 5 team tournament.  Trevor Gregoire and Siven Furseth both went 5-0 in their matches, Boyd Maske went 3-0.

The young Cougars ran into a good Middleton Cardinal team, and lost their opener 27-37.   The Cougars had several freshmen in the varsity lineup, and they were quickly introduced to Big 8 wrestling.

At 171, Drillon Grajcevci battled hard, but lost by pinfall.  At 189lbs, Alex Burdick lost by pin.  At 215lbs, Blair Kessler reversed the trend, and stuck his opponent at 1:31.  At 285, Boyd Maske had the fast pin of the meet with 47 seconds.  At 103lbs, Siven Furseth showed great promise with a win by pin at 1:06.  At 112, Jaime Kumlein worked hard, but lost 8-11.  At 119lbs, Chris Simonson lost in a close match, 3-5.  At 125, Travis Davis lost 8-14.  At 130lbs, Ben Lane led for a while, but lost in the final seconds 3-4.  At 135lbs, Troy Davis never gave up, and won 9-4.  At 140, Jeff Armi lost by pinfall.  At 145lbs, Ian Kopp worked hard, but lost 10-20.  At 152, Kevin Wells would have won by pin, but a bloody nose slowed him down, and he lost 7-11.  At 160lbs, Trevor Gregoire dominated his way to a pin at 1:33.
