Clifton Park Youth Hockey: Trophy Case

The Squirt B team brought home the Championship trophy from the North Adams Spring Fling tournament by beating the top seeded Troy-Albany team 2-1 in a overtime shootout. After dropping the round-robin game 2-4 to the Jr. Engineers earlier in the day, the championship rematch of the TVHL divisional opponents featured strong defensive play and solid goaltending behind Kent Leighton and Michael West who combined for 24 saves. The scoreless tie was broken by a third period TA goal, that was answered two minutes later when Parker Buelow netted the game-tying goal after breaking behind the TA defense. Following the scoreless 7 minute overtime period, Lucas Furbeck netted the first shoot-out goal, which was answered by TA, but on the last opportunity of the best-of-five shootout, a Moses Acee wrist shot found the back of the net clinching the championship for the Eagles.
