Why Cross Ice?
One of the most frequent questions asked when a child begins playing hockey usually revolves around the cross-ice program. Many parents would like to know why their child is not skating or playing games on a full sheet of ice, and what the benefits of such a smaller surface are. Simply put, cross-ice hockey increases the number of times a player touches the puck during a game, helping them develop their puck control skills and allows them to play on ice dimensions that are of better proportion to their size, helping them develop their technical skills quicker.
For a more complete overview of the program, the link to the USA Hockey Cross-Ice Initiation document is attached: http://www.usahockey.com/Template_Usahockey.aspx?NAV=PL_01_18&id=5238
It important to remember that cross-ice is a USA Hockey and New York State program requirement.

COACHES:
Once the rosters are set we will forward them to all parents and assign head and assistant coaches. We are always in need of coaches and encourage all interested and qualified candidates to apply. On the website you can find a link to USA Hockey coaching clinics and under the website's forms button you can find the coaching application with instructions. CPYHA will reimburse coaches for fees paid to USA Hockey for the clinics. All coaches must wear helmets while on the ice. Please let me know if you are interested in coaching.
JERSEYS:
Jerseys will be provided for the players. As soon as we have the rosters we will have the last names put on.
