College Park Aquatics, Spring & Summer 2009

All-East Bay 2009 Swimming Team:

  • From CC Times: Rachel O'Brien, College Park, 100 butterfly, Sr. — After competing in the Olympic Trials last summer, O'Brien returned to defend her title in the 100 butterfly at NCS. She leaves as the most decorated swimmer in College Park history with six school records.

Sports Funding info:

  • At the Boosters meeting tonight (6/1) our representative reported that he had met with Dick Nicholls of the MDUSD board and he confirmed that there will be fall sports but beyond that they just don't know...
  • From the CC Times: "The school board approved the "Donate to Play" plan that will replace more than $721,000 in district funds eliminated because of budget cuts with about $600,000 in student-athlete donations, $200,000 in athletic foundation contributions and additional money expected from gate receipts, along with income from new $25 student activity cards that would serve as passes to all games. Donations would range from $50 for "club" sports — such as golf, water polo and lacrosse — to $400 for football, which was previously supported by the district. Many athletes also would pay an additional transportation fee of $100."
  • A good way to help out CP athletics is to sign up for escrip.  You can input your credit/debit visa cards as well as your safeway card. It doesn't cost you anything.  The CP Boosters escrip ID is 5064305.
  • Check out the United Mt Diablo Athletic Foundation (UMDAF) website for more information on the efforts to save sports in our school district.

Water Polo:

  • Fall practice locations are being worked on...Stay tuned.
  • For in-coming Freshman who are interested in playing water polo this Fall there is a small USA water polo program for boys and girls in 5th through 8th grade at Alhambra High.  Please check the Club Water Polo pages for info.
  • There will also be a 1 week clinic put on by the CPHS coaches through PH Park & Rec in August.  Check back here or at the PH Park & Rec site for info.
  • Don't forget to schedule your doctors appointment to get your medical clearance form signed.  You cannot play without it.
