Camarillo PONY Baseball Association:Parents Responsibilities

Our Responsibilities as Parents

The following excerpt has been taken directly from Article X, "Parent Responsibilities", of the CPBA By-Laws:

One parent of each ball player will be expected to perform one of the following team support functions:

1.      Manager or Coach

2.      Scorekeeper

3.      Assistant Scorekeeper

4.      Field Layout

5.      Sponsor Liaison

6.      Team Parent

Snack Bar: In addition to the team support functions listed above, one parent of each player participating in league play will be required to donate four hours of his or her time to the operation of the CPBA snack bar. The consequence of a parent failing to fulfill his or her required number of hours in the snack bar is the snack bar deposit paid at the time of registration will be forfeited.

Conduct: The conduct of parents, when in contact with the team manager, coaches, umpires, players, fans, and, particularly, while attending games, will be that of a responsible adult. Any parent or spectator ordered removed from the field area by the umpire after one warning is suspended from attending the remainder of that game and is automatically suspended for three subsequent games — subject to an appeal to the league commissioner and the CPBA Board. Umpires shall submit a written report to the CPBA Board via the Director of Umpires.

Penalty: If the suspended parent or spectator attends a game involving his/her team during the suspension period, that game may be forfeited to the opposing team.

Dealing with Managers: Problems between managers (or coaches) and parents will be discussed at a meeting between the parent and manager (or coach). If further intervention becomes necessary, the manager will arrange for a meeting between the involved parties and the league commissioner — in order to resolve the problem. The next step would be to take the problem before the Director of Commissioners and finally, to the CPBA Board of Directors, if necessary.

Uniforms and Equipment: Parents and managers are responsible for all uniforms and equipment issued to their team's players and managers. Said equipment must be returned at the end of the season. If equipment is not returned, those responsible will be billed at the current rate of replacement and shall be excluded from further participation in the CPBA program until such bill is paid or equipment is returned.

Fund Raising: Should the Board of Directors decide that a fund raiser will be necessary in order for the program to remain fiscally sound, all parents are responsible for making a reasonable effort to support the announced fundraising activities.
