C&J Softball: Team News
Thursday, August 17Anemic Offense
![]() |
I'm not sure what is wrong with our offense, hopefully we can turn it around soon. With a 3.5 "Rave" (Average Runs per Game), everyone on the team knows we're not going to win many games (if any). If anyone wants to try and squeeze in a batting practice session in the next few weeks, just let me know and I'll organize something at Solway. Otherwise, I recommend maybe we hit the batting cages individually and try to work on our swings.
I think that about half of the team is in a slump and that we'll snap out of it soon, so hang in there as we try to right the ship and fix the problem before the season passes us by.

New Players and Schedule
We have added two more new players to the roster this season. Chris Chotard & David Smith will be joining us at the SportsPark on Wednesday nights (Chris will also join the co-ed team on Tuesday nights). I believe that Chris was voted Player of the Year for his Little League team back in 1988 and should be an excellent addition to our infield. David last laced up his cleats before grass was on the field, however, based on last practice, he should be able to shag some flies and rack up the singles.
The first game is Wednesday August 2nd at 9:00 (as usual, try to be there 30 min. early to stretch, warm-up, prevent my capilaries from contracting, etc... This is our ONLY game after 7:00. All other games throughout the season will be at either 6:00 or 7:00, so enjoy the cool night air while you can.
We won't be participating in the State Softball Tournament as again, we did not have the participation required.

New Player
We have added a new player to the team this season. Hal's father and C&J alumni (actually he worked for E&E at the time, but same office)... Mr. Hal Sr.
I'm sure that he will be a much better addition to the team than Hal's previous suggestion (a Mr. Hunter), who decided it was best not to show up to a single game.
As a result of the newly formed co-ed team (and job duties), we have lost Gandolf the Wizard this season. In addition, I am leaving the roster spots formerly held by David B. and Executive Don open as neither attended a single game (or practice) last season and neither seems to have an interst in improving upon that mark.
We appear to have also lost the Happy Sprite Mr. Daisy O'Donoghue as the 2 hour drive to Morristown seemed to have take a toll on his 626 and yard passes these past two seasons, hopefully we'll get him back before too long (with the recent promotion new wheels are probably on the way and yard passes should be renewed before long).
Finally, I'm attaching a survey for the Spring '06 MVP as I received a lousy 5 total votes for MVP. Please vote early and vote often (all previous votes have been forgotten, so vote again).
