TOP TEAM, TOP COACH IN 2000!

Congratulations to the 1999-2000 Cougars!

The 1999-2000 Cougar basketball team has been voted the Moose Jaw Times-Herald's Team of the Year for 2000! The Cougars were awarded 40 out of a possible 45 votes from a panel of local sports reporters. The team completed a Gold-medal season winning the Moose Jaw League and Provincial 3A high school basketball championships. It was the Cougars first ever League title and its ninth Provincial championship.

Not only did the Cougars win Team of the Year but Head Coach Gib Hinz was selected Coach of the Year for 2000 by the same panel of voters. Coach Hinz is currently in his 7th season with the Cougars.

COUGARS DOMINATE IN 2000

(March 2000)

The Cougars completed possibly their best season ever in 2000 with a solid victory in the Provincial Championship defeating familiar foe, Moose Jaw Central. Add together their first-ever League Championship two weeks earlier and the Cougars marked the first time they won both championships in a season. The trip to the Provincial Finals was the fifth consecutive appearance for the Cougars, taking their second title in the same time frame. The previous title was won in 1998. The League Championship was the Cougars first since entering the league four seasons ago.
