| World Youth Basketball Tournament, Hawaii |
| Dear Coach Lewis: Aloha! It was really great getting your email. You have a very impressive organization and are exactly the type of teams that we invited to WYBT. Your team will have great competition and a lifetime memory! There also will be great cultural exchanges made. What a great opportunity! We already have teams registered for next summer's 12th Annual World Youth Basketball Tournament and we would be honored to host your team. I even have Samoa, Guam and Canada already registered. For WYBT 2010 the dates are August 1st - August 5th, 2010. Once you send in your $750 deposit which gets applied to your Hotel Package Deal, that guarantees your spot and gets deducted from your team's Hotel Package Deal, which the balance on that is not due until June 15th, 2010 for our summer tournament. Please make your > check payable to: World Youth Basketball Tournament and mail to: WYBT > 77-6365 Kenika Place > Kailua-Kona, HI 96740 > > What is great about our format and divisions is that you will play 5 > pool play games and then seeded for Championship Games. This means that on > your Championship Game you will be playing against a team well suited > competitively for your team. When scheduling are games, I talk to each > coach and get an idea on the level of competitiveness, and what you are > looking for to get out of the tournament. So ideally you would play 2 > games against what I feel is your level of competitiveness, two games > against a team I feel is stronger than your and one game against a team > weaker than yours. Then you will be seeded. This makes for a very positive > experience and exciting games, that everyone goes home feeling great. > We have no registration fee, just our Hotel Package Deal. Our Hotel > Package Deal covers your team's entry and all of our events including your > 6 nights accommodations plus all hotel taxes and porterage. For air the best way is to check via the >> internet and also the group departments of the major airlines. Some I >> would contact their group department. Have them price it to KOA (Kona >> International Airport) or HNL ( Honolulu). You can then purchase your >> interisland from HNL (Honolulu) to KOA (Kona International Airport). >> Interisland is about $150. >> Sometimes this way is cheaper. Usually the group departments ask for a >> $100 deposit per person and then you have up to about 30 days before >> travel to pay the balance. Please let me know what quote you get and I >> will also check my airline contact here in Hawaii to see if they can >> beat it. Airfares have gone down now. >> >> For food, plan on about $20 a day for food, plus fluids. All the fast >> food >> restaurants and grocery stores are in walking distance of your hotel, >> your >> best bet is the local places which are very inexpensive and >> in walking distance of the hotel. Once I get your deposit, I will mail >> you >> out a magazine called "101 Things to do on the Big Island". I also >> emailed you a sponsorship letter to help you get donations for your team. >> For WYBT >> 2007 Dubai used this and got Ford as a sponsor. I guarantee that you will >> all have the time of your lives! >> >> There are many free tourist things to do, so your week will be busy and >> inexpensive. >> Please let me know if you have any other questions. >> Mahalo, >> Christy Gladstone >> 808.756.0203 >> www.wybt.com |
