Baseball - Varsity Boys

Our Baseball team, the Cougars, has a competitive team(s) for boys in seventh and eighth grades. The season begins in March and runs through June.

The varsity level of play is designed for the skilled athlete in seventh and eighth grades; therefore, a student must qualify for this team. Participants may not have reached their l5th birthday before January 1 of the current school year. Eligibility for this level of play is determined by a general tryout(s) for each grade level or grouping (e.g. 7th and 8th grades). This tryout(s) is conducted by the coach and assistant coaches. Student performance is rated and then is evaluated by the coach and assistant coaches. From this data, the varsity team members are selected. Corpus Christi varsity teams then compete with other region 20 varsity teams.

Playoff games begin on a regional level and then advance to the Archdiocesan level for qualified teams. It should be noted that due to the more competitive nature of this league, coaches are not mandated to guarantee playing time for each member during games. Coaches at Corpus Christi, however, are encouraged to play all players as much as possible during a game.
