CORONA ANGELS TAKE RUNNER-UP AT 2008 ASA GOLD NATIONALS

The Corona Angels played 9 hard fought games earning them a second place finish at the 2008 ASA Gold National Championships.

Field Proven & Battle Tested

The Angels made it to Nationals the "hard way" - competing in 3 tough regional tournaments before finally qualifying in Seattle, WA. It only seemed fitting that they would battle their way to Sunday.

After recording wins over the Florida Gold (2-0), OK Babes (2-1), OC Batbusters (2-1), and East Cobb GA Bullets (2-1), the Angels lost a 0-1 heartbreaker to the Gold Coast Hurricanes which sent the Angels to the loser’s bracket on Friday night. Faced with yet another challenge, the Angels came back on Saturday to record wins over VA Shamrocks (6-1), So Cal Explosion (4-0), and AZ Hotshots - Gatti (3-2) before losing in Sunday’s Championship match-up (5-6) to the Hurricanes.

Key statistic: error free defense the first 8 games of the tournament
Key statistic: Angels recorded 45 hits, MANY with RISP
Key statistic: Angels’ pitchers averaged less than one run per game the first 8 games
