*** Novice, Atom and Midget DS Tryouts ***
The CGHA will be holding tryouts for Developmental Stream (DS) teams in the Novice, Atom and Midget divisions.  Each of these divisions will hold a 1 ice time tryout.  The Novice tryout will be held Wednesday February 15th from 5:30 to 6:30pm at the Benson Centre on pad #1.  The Atom tryout will be held Sunday February 12th from 7 to 8pm at the Benson Centre on pad #1.  The Midget tryout will be held Saturday February 25th from 9 to 10:30pm at the Benson Centre on pad # 3.  These ice times are tryouts therefore a cost of $10 dollars per player will apply and must be paid at the times of tryouts.  All house league players within the divisions are welcome to tryout. 
 
The DS teams will attend the Brampton Canadettes tournament April 5-8.  Leading up to the tournament the DS teams will have some extra ice times for practices and/or exhibition game(s).  The cost for each player will be approximately 100.00 to 125.00 not including hotel and food costs.  More information on costs will be provided after the teams are formed by the coaches.

IMPORTANT HOCKEY CANADA RULE CHANGE 2011 – 2012
EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY IN ALL OWHA HOCKEY
 
ZERO tolerance measures for all head contact or checks in minor, female, junior and senior hockey:
  • in minor and female hockey, a minor penalty shall be assessed for all accidental hits to the head, while a double minor penalty, or a major and game misconduct at the discretion of the referee based on the degree of violence of impact, shall be assessed for any intentional contact to the head;
  • in junior (Junior A, B, C, D) and senior hockey, a minor and a misconduct or a major and a game misconduct shall be assessed for all checks to the head, at the discretion of the referee
  • a major penalty and a game misconduct, or match penalty, shall be assessed to any player who injures an opponent under this rule
