CORK ADMIRALS AMERICAN FOOTBALL: Recruitment
Join the Cork Admirals
If you would like to join the Cork Admirals please feel free to call to our practice sessions to take a look or to participate, especially one of our Rookie open-days, which are advertised on this website and on Local Radio.

We are always keen to add more players to our squad. Regardless of your age, height, weight or physical fitness you are welcome to come along. Our certified American Football Coaches will help to make you familiar with the sport. We have a senior kitted team (17+), a senior (17+) flag football team, and also Corks first YOUTH FOOTBALL team(ages 11-16).
There is a place for everybody who wants to learn the game at our club. American football is a unique sport. The many different positions on the field require many different skills and different physical attributes. Everybody has something to contribute to the team because of this, so dont be afraid to join because you are not exactly like the players you see in the NFL!!!
Training in American football techniques and skills will be provided by our training personnel, which includes a number of certified American Football coaches. If you would prefer to train to a particular position we can help you learn the important skills. Alternatively we can help give you a good general football base from which you can help the team in a number of positions. Our practices take place at Kennedy Park, Blackrock Road (click links below for map and practice schedule), and everyone is welcome to attend. Players aged 16+ are allowed to compete in kitted football, but players younger than this can learn non-contact flag-football.
The Admirals will have some youth football matches running in parallel with the senior season so there will be plenty of chances to learn and play the sport of flag-football. These flag football games are a great way to learn the skills, rules and strategies involved in the sport in a safe and fun way. Members of our youth coaching staff and club officials have attended the 'Code of Ethics' training course for children in sport which stresses the importance of making sport for all youths safe and fun.
Our coaches strive to put this code into practice and help the youths enjoy learning about flag-football.

What will you need? For flag football all you will need is shirts, shorts and boots. The team will provide the flag equipment.
For the kitted side the club can provide you with some spare protective equipment for you to try out the sport, so all you will need to take part is a jersey, shorts/tracksuit and studded boots.
If you choose to play full-time for the team it is better, and safer, to buy your own properly fitting equipment. Youth players involved in non-contact flag-football will need only a shirt, shorts and football boots.
One of the following sports stores (links below) can provide you what you will need. Some companies have special offers for player equipment kits, which reduces the cost. Both websites below have on-line stores and deliver goods quickly. The club can sell some of the smaller items like pants and lower body pads to you, but it is best to own your own helmet and shoulderpads.
Barnett Sports, France
Forelle, Netherlands
(If you do choose to buy equipment, the official team colours are... red helmet with white facemask, white shirt, red pants, white socks)
So if you would like to join the Cork Admirals or would like more information on our team contact us...... Keith 085-7195556 (Club Secretary) Alan Lomasney 0862202093 (Head Coach)

"The way a team plays as a whole determines its success. You may have the greatest bunch of individual stars in the world, but if they don't play together, the club won't be worth a dime." - Babe Ruth
