A's WIN MAJOR CHAMPIONSHIP

After taking turns with offensive explosions in the first two games of the play-offs, the A's and Mets played a tight game of winner-take-all on Tuesday.  The A's prevailed with a 3-1 victory to claim the Congers Major Championship.

It was a very well played game on both sides of the ball. Mets starting pitcher Anthony Termine threw an amazing 5 innings of baseball, leaving due to pitch count in the 6th inning with a one run deficit. The A's took a one run lead in the third inning when Joshua Rein scored on a base hit by Christian Lugo. Brendan Hendrickson pitched five amazing shut out innings for the A's. The A's scored two more runs in the top of the 6th inning on a walk to Aidan Devin and hits by Nico Denise and Colin Farrell. In the bottom of the 6th inning the Mets started off on a bloop hit by Anthony Termine, who eventualy scored on a stolen base and an RBI hit by Michael Winters. The A's brought in Joe Maydwell, Jr. for relief to pitch the remainder of the sixth inning, and he closed out the game with three strike outs.

The A's will represent Congers in the Rockland County Tournament of Champions.   The first game will be against Stony Point this Friday, June 20, at 8 PM at the Haverstraw Little League Field.
