Columbus Bulldogs defeat Cleveland Warriors again!

The Columbus Bulldogs defeated the Cleveland Warriors of the NPSFL again 15-12 in a last minute comeback for the ages.  The Warriors scored their points in the second and third quarters but could not convert two, 2 point conversions.  The Bulldogs scored late in the 3rd quarter thanks again to the quick feet of CPD Officer QB Shawn Fuqua after a 40 yard passing play to Hilliard Officer WR Shane O'Connor.  Then with time running down the Bulldogs ran the ball down the field using smashmouth football.  The Bulldogs then converted on a 4th and 6 to go from the 7 yard line on a clutch play as Shawn Fuqua completed a pass to CPD Officer TE Allen Blackmon which set up the game winning touchdown.  Fuqua then passed to "Double Ocho" CPD Officer WR Chris Smith-Hughes for a 2 point conversion leaving less than two minutes to go on the clock.

The game MVP was the Bulldogs Defense.  Led by CPD Officers Anthony Johnson, Scott Soha, Carl Coleman, Stan Speaks, Karl Shaw, James France, Lamar Booker, Phillip "PJ" Jackson, Sam Rippey, Ryan Steele, and Steve Simmons.  Whitehall Officers Denny Allen, and Jon Earl.  Franklin County Deputies Josh Short and Jeff Barrett.  Fairfield County Deputies Lyle Campbell and Dustin Beavers.  New Albany Officer Leland Kelly.  And thanks to defensive players Joe Saffold and Jimmy Harris from other agencies.

Each player contributed enormously to the victory and contained the Warriors with too many tackles for loss and QB sacks to keep track of.  The Bulldogs would also like to thank offensive tackle Don Loy from Scioto Correctional Instition, offensive tackle Rob Stokes of Madison Correctional Institution, Officer Delbert Leasure from Sunbury, and Columbus Firefighter WR Walt Lash who also contributed to the victory.

Bulldogs defeat NPSFL Cleveland Warriors!!!

On Saturday the Bulldogs defeated the 3-1 Cleveland Warriors of the National Public Safety League by the score of 20-12.  The game was a defensive grudgematch as both teams struggled to get their offenses going.  The Bulldogs relied on the quick feet of QB #3 Shawn Fuqua, the leg of Kicker #2 Paul Tobin, the great coverage by #8 James France, the clutch hands by #80 TE Allen Blackmon, and the brute strength of the game MVP, DT #99 Anthony Johnson.  "AJ" as he is known had four sacks and forced two key fumbles.

Going into the final minutes the Bulldogs were only up by one point thanks to a returned field goal by the Warriors.  The ensuing drive started at the one yard line and the Bulldogs managed to get to midfield.  The Warriors thought that the Bulldogs were going to handoff to #99 Anthony Johnson and instead Shawn Fuqua took the ball to the house going untouched for 25 yards.

Bulldogs win first Annual Police vs. Fire Arena Bowl

Your Columbus Police Bulldogs defeated the Columbus Firefighters in a tale of two halfs in Nationwide Arena.  The first half belonged to the Bulldogs and it started off with a sack by #45 LB Scott Soha on the first Firefighter possession.  Following the change of possession the Bulldogs drew first blood on a nice pass from Game MVP #3 QB Shawn Fuqua to #5 WR Rayshawn Sykes.  On the next Firefighter possession a bad snap was picked up by #99 DT Anthony Johnson for six points.  And the Bulldogs wern't done yet.  On the ensuing Firefighter drive #8 CB James France snatched an erant pass into the endzone and ran it back 25 yards.  Imediatly following the pick Fuqua took no time throwing a great pass to #88 WR Chris Smith-Hughes (aka Double Ocho) for another Bulldogs score.  After the kickoff Anthony Johnson and #65 DE George White sacked the Firefighter's QB in the endzone for a safety.  On the ensuing kickoff #20 Adam Daughtery had a great return going from deep in the Bulldog's endzone for 28 yards.  Then what was the last of the Bulldog's scoring Fuqua hooked up with Sykes in the endzone one last time.

The next half was a very different ball game.  The Firefighters were lead by FB Terron Gordon as they racked up 25 unanswered points.  However, it was too little too late and the Bulldogs held on to win 31-25 and won the first Annual Police vs. Fire Charity Arena Game.
