In the early nineties members of the Columubs Police and Franklin County Sheriff's Office played a charity football game in late November called the "Turkey Bowl". The money raised went to the families of police officers who were killed in the line of duty. In 2001 a new charity "Get Behind The Badge" was formed after Charity President Angela McDowell lost her husband in the line of duty attempting to serve a "routine" traffic warrant. She wanted to help both the families of police officers, and firefighters who were injured or killed in the line of duty, and honor the sacrifices of the police officers and firefighters on 9-11-01.
The "Get Behind The Badge" Football Tournament was then born. Urban Heat (suburban fire), and the Columbus Fire Department joined. In 2006, Franklin County joined with other departments to become the Enforcers. That year the Columbus Police became the Bulldogs, this website went up, and each year the tournament gets bigger and better.
Most of our players are from Columbus, we also have had many players from other agencies. ANY police officer or public safety employee is welcome to play as long as you have football experience and or you an athlete familiar with the game.
Bulldogs are dedicated, open-minded, team players. Players must attend practice, get sponsors, and raise money for our charity. We are always looking for more help. New players, coaches, and board members are welcome at any time.
