Officer Matt Baase
Officer Matt Baase, who patrols the near east side, the cities 12th pct. Officer Baase was on patrol when he noticed a car the was driving eratically and attempted a traffic stop. The traffic violator refused to stop when ordered to and sped his vehicle to an uncontrolable rate. Officer Baase, following the guidelines established by the Division, backed off from any possible pursuit but seconds later heard a loud BOOM. Officer Baase realized that the suspect had struck a school bus which had several children on board.
