UGGLA NAMED AS THE SPORTING NEWS NATIONAL LEAGUE ROOKIE OF THE YEAR!!!
Dan Uggla is a graduate of Columbia Central High School (1998). Uggla went on to play College baseball for the Memphis Tigers and in 2001 was selected as an ALL-AMERICAN by Baseball America, Baseball Weekly, and Collegiately was one of the best. After college Dan worked his way through the minor leagues and while with the Tennessee Diamondbacks (AA-Affiliate of Arizona) he was taken by the Florida Marlins in a Rule 5 Draft in December of 2005. Uggla has since became one of the Major leagues best 2nd basemen. He got his Major League Debut on April 3, 2006. For the season he appeared in 154 games while finishing with a .282 batting average (26 Doubles and 7 Triples), 90 RBI's (Team Rookie Mark), 6 Stolen Bases, and he also set a Major League record for rookie 2nd Basemen with an amazing 27 homeruns which was 3 higher than the previous mark, set by Joe Gordon of the Yankees in 1938. Uggla was also the first player in league history to be selected as an ALL-STAR in the year after being selected in the Rule 5 Draft.
In years to come Dan Uggla should be a great asset to any team in the Majors. We wish Uggla the best of luck throughout his career.
Congratulations on Sporting News Rookie of the Year!!!

HEAD COACH OF THE AMERICAN ALL-STARS KEITH ESSARY GRANTED PARKER MCWILLIAMS WITH THE MVP AWARD!!! PARKER MCWILLIAMS HAD A GREAT ALL-STAR GAME...BOTH DEFENSIVELY AND OFFENSIVELY! PARKER MADE A COUPLE OF VERY BIG KEY PLAYS IN THE FIELD TO HELP KEEP RUNNERS OFF THE BASES AS THE NATIONAL LEAGUE COULD ONLY MANAGE 1 HIT THROUGHOUT THE ENTIRE GAME. PARKER ALSO WAS RESPONSIBLE FOR THE WINNING RUN AS HE BEAT OUT AN INFIELD HIT WITH 2 OUTS TO SCORE THE ONLY RUN OF THE DAY! CONGRATS TO PARKER!!! GREAT GAME!!!

ALTHOUGH THE CURVE HAVE A RECORD OF 28-12...BETTER THAN SOME IN THE TOP 25...THE CURVE FALL OUT OF THE TOP 25 FOR THE FIRST TIME THIS YEAR. THE CURVE HAVE JUST NOT BEEN PLAYING UP TO THEIR ABILITY AND HAVE LOST SOME GAMES THEY SHOULD NOT HAVE. FALLING OUT OF THE TOP 25 WAS NO SURPRISE TO THE CURVE. DUE TO INJURIES OR WHATEVER THE CAUSE, THIS IS NO REASON FOR THE CURVE TO BE PLAYING LIKE THEY ARE. WITH ABOUT 15 GAMES LEFT BEFORE THE CURVE GET SET TO PLAY IN THE NSPBA WORLD SERIES IN HATTIESBURG, MS THE CURVE HOPE TO GET THINGS BACK ON TRACK AND TO WINNING SOME GAMES! CURVE GET BIT BY RATTLERS IN GAME 2.....FALL VICTIMS 3-2.
IN A GAME THAT SHOULD HAVE BEEN WON BY THE CURVE....THE RATTLERS PULLED OUT THE WIN 3-2. IT WAS A COMBINATION OF SOME BAD CALLS, POOR PLAY, AND NOT EXECUTING WITH RUNNERS IN SCORING POSITION.
THE CURVE ARE NOW 1-1 IN POOL PLAY AND MUST WIN GAME 3 TO ADVANCE TO THE DOUBLE ELIMINATION PART OF THE TOURNAMENT. IF THE CURVE DO WIN THEY CARRY THEIR LOSS WITH THEM INTO SEMI-FINALS.
Monday, June 19
CURVE HOPE TO RETURN TO WINNING WAYS!
THE COLUMBIA CURVE HAVE WORKED VERY HARD TO ESTABLISH A WINNING TEAM IN JUST 3 YEARS OF PLAY IN THE NATIONAL SEMI-PRO BASEBALL ASSOCIATION! TEAM OWNER/COACH KEITH ESSARY HAS SEEN THE CURVE PLAY AT THEIR WORST AND THEIR BEST. HE WILL TELL YOU THAT WHEN THE CURVE PLAYS A TEAM AND PLAYS THEIR BEST BASEBALL THAT IT WOULD BE HARD TO BEAT THEM. THE CURVE HAVE ALREADY POSTED 26 WINS WITH ONLY 10 LOSSES THIS SEASON BUT THE BAD NEWS IS THAT THE CURVE HAVE LOST 4 OF ITS LAST 5 GAMES, LOSSES THAT COACH ESSARY FEELS NEVER SHOULD HAVE HAPPENED. COACH ESSARY DOESN'T LIKE LOSING AND WILL MAKE SURE THAT CHANGES ARE PUT IN PLACE TO GET THE TEAM BACK ON TRACK. ALTHOUGH THE CURVE HAVE HAD SOME STARTERS OUT DUE TO INJURY THERE IS STILL NO EXCUSES AS THERE ARE PLENTY OF GUYS ON THE BENCH THAT COULD JUST AS EASY BE A STARTER. THE CURVE'S NEXT GAME IS THIS THURSDAY NIGHT AT HOME AND YOU CAN BE WELL ASSURED THAT COACH ESSARY WILL HAVE HIS TEAM READY.
AFTER THURSDAY NIGHTS GAME THE CURVE WILL BE FOCUSING ON THE USBC WORLD SERIES IN INDIANA THAT IS SET FOR JULY 1ST THRU JULY 4TH. THE TOURNAMENT IS A NATIONAL TOURNAMENT AND WILL FEATURE TEAMS FROM MISSOURI, OHIO, INDIANA, KENTUCKY, ILLINOIS, AND TENNESSEE.
THE CURVE ARE STILL LOOKING FOR A SPONSOR FOR THIS TOURNAMENT. IF INTERESTED IN SPONSORING THE CURVE PLEASE CONTACT COACH ESSARY AT 931-334-4234!

CURVE FINISHES SEASON RANKED 3RD IN THE STATE!
While being ranked 46th in the nation, the Columbia Curve squad has also been recognized as one of the most improved teams in the NSPBA. Accomplishing this task has found the team ranked 3rd among other teams in the state of Tennessee. Compared to last season's accomplishments the Curve should be very satisfied with the outcome of the 2005 season!

A SPECIAL THANKS!
A special thanks go out to Casey Adams of Design Life Graphics for digitally re-doing our Curve logo for this site. The logo was originally hand drawn and scanned on here by Tyler Cude. The new logo is almost identical to the old one, but with a much more professional look to it. Again thanks to Mr. Adams who updated the logo for us.
If you would like to have some graphic work done then I strongly recommend that you give Mr. Adams the chance to earn your business. You can log onto www.designlifegraphics.com for more information.
