Jets Disappointed with Western Qualifier Results

Finally, the warm weather showed up for a tourney, the problem was the Jets didn’t take advantage of it.  After kicking off the pool games with a lopsided loss, the Jets turned things around with a 4-3 come from behind, extra inning win to even their pool record at 1-1.  The first bracket game was another success for the Jets as they played well in a 6-1 victory.  Advancing into bracket play, the Jets ran into a buzz saw pitcher and an excellent team while dropping the game 4-0 to the Stars.  The Jets played fairly well as they out-hit the Stars but couldn’t put up any runs, as they left too many stranded base runners.  Sunday’s bracket game continued for the Jets, but just for a short while.  After taking a 1-0 lead early in the game, the Jets watched their lead dissolve over the next few innings and were knocked out of the tourney after a 7-1 loss.  Too many mistakes and missed opportunities cost the Jets the game and resulted in the early exit from the tourney on Sunday morning.  The Jets had a glimmer of success at different times through the weekend, but were disappointed with the mistakes to be happy with the results.  The Jets will re-group and look to improve for ASA State in two weeks.

Cool Your Jets !!!

It was a popular saying back in the day - "Cool Your Jets".  But it was about as real as could be this past weekend at the Pony Express Tournament.  Friday night's near freezing temperatures and 50+mph winds were crazy conditions for playing softball.  The Jets had a great first inning, scoring two runs and holding the Comets to no runs.  But that was the end of their success - as the Jets got colder, the opposition took over.  The Comets and Quicksilver made short work of the Jets and sent them home with an 0-2 record for Friday.  Saturday's weather wasn't much better, nor were the Jets, as they dropped successive games to Styxx, Stampede, and Stars, before earing a decent win against the Warriors Saturday evening.  However, as the evening temps dropped and the wind picked up, the Jets found themselves in familiar conditions as they dropped their final game of the tourney to Next Level.  The weekend certainly didn't go as planned - weather and schedule didn't make for good ball playing.  The Jets plan to dust themselves off and re-group for the ASA western qualifier on May 17/18.

Jets Finish Second at Rage Rumble !!!

What a difference a day makes!!! The Jets entered their first tournament of the spring season on Saturday and uncharacteristically dropped all 3 games in pool play. Unshaken by their slow start in pool play, the Jets dusted themselves off on Sunday and won their way through bracket play into the championship game. Two different days, two different looking teams. Saturday’s Jets were a bit cautious at the plate, somewhat shaky on defense, and pitching was spotty. No big deal, since the Jets knew this was their first time out this spring, they expected to be a little rusty. Sunday’s Jets were much sharper and much better. Offensively, they nearly doubled their hit production from Saturday. Pitching was tough on the opposition holding the Outlaws to just one run in game 1 and shutting out the Storm in game 2. Defensively, the Jets were much improved, but there’s still room to get better. All in all, the Jets made big strides from Saturday to Sunday and look for continued improvement in the weeks to come. Nice job, Jets !!! Great kickoff weekend and nice job battling back from a tough start on Saturday. Excellent job staying focused on Sunday in the wind and dirt storms during the morning. Keep on working hard and coming together as a team.
