Eagles drop regular season finale!!!
The Colonial Forge High School Varsity Baseball Team lost their final regular season game to visiting Riverbend High School by the score of 4-2 in nine innings. Senior Matt Edwards got the start and pitched three innings, giving up one run on four hits, while striking out two and walking one. Senior Garrett Marin came on in relief to pitch 5 1/3 innings giving up three runs on three hits, while striking out six and walking four batters. Riverbend score a run in the top of the first inning on three hits and an error. The Eagles would take the lead in the bottom of the third inning by scoring two runs. Garrett Marin tripled with one out. Taylor Guinn followed with a single to score Marin and later stole second base. With two outs, Kyle Boster delivered a single to score Guinn and give the Eagles a 2-1 lead. Riverbend would tie the game in the top of the fourth inning by scoring a run on one hit and two walks. The game remained tied at 2-2 and went into extra innings. Riverbend would score two runs in the top of the ninth inning on one hit, three walks, and an error. With the loss, the Eagles dropped to 5-9 in the Commonwealth District and 9-11 overall on the season. The Eagles next game is scheduled for Monday in the first round of the district tournament. |
