jvtourncoll.jpg

In game 1, the Eagles were down 1-0 against the Peachtree Ridge Lions. In the 6th inning, Caroline Cooper advanced to first on a drop third strike, and stole second. Amanda Elder put down the bunt and beat the throw to first, advancing Caroline. With Caroline in scoring position, Katie Fidler's fly to short right tied it up, and Catherine Palmer singled up the middle to put the Eagles on top, 2-1.

Against the North Gwinnett Bulldogs, the Eagles broke it open in the 6th inning with singles by Lindsay Ellenburg (2 RBI), Kimberly Mason, and Suzy Kutney. Lindsay’s single was her 2nd of the game and Katie Fidler added two doubles to go along with a double by Kellie Edmondson. The Eagles prevailed 6-0.

In the finale against Central Gwinnett, the Eagles were again held scoreless until the 6th inning when a triple from Kellie, a key walk and fielder’s choice got us on the board. Additional hits in the 7th from Catherine Palmer and Lindsay padded the lead. A 4-0 victory over the Lady Knights gave the Eagles the gold championship.

In 14 innings in the first two games on Saturday, Erin Collins gave up only 1 run on 3 hits with 10 strikeouts. Kimberly Mason’s shutout in the final game was impressive, as she allowed 3 hits, striking out 10 over 7 innings, to go along with her shutout in pool play the night before.

The JV Eagles move to 7-0 (3-0 in region play).

9th grade team placed 2nd in the Silver Bracket at the Grayson JV Tournament
Saturday, August 27th, 2005
Eagles 9th grade team did extremely well in this JV tournament, having only 9 players on their roster and having half the girls new to their positions. It was a very long hot day and there was no rest for the weary but as Coach Gorham said "they NEVER quit!!"

Collins Hill 9th grade 0 Brookwood JV 11
Brookwood handed the Eagles their fist loss 11-0. CH never really got the bats going.

Collins Hill 9th grade 10 Rockdale 0
Nicole Heusel pitched 5 innings of scoreless ball and tripled in the 1st inning scoring 2 runs. That would be all CH would need as the Eagles would win going away, 10-0 to increase the record to 4-1.

Collins Hill 9th grade 4 Greenbriar 2
CH got all the runs it would need on a 2 out bases clearing triple by Aeriel Stewart. Lauren Reader pitched 7 innings giving up 2 runs as CH won its 5th game of the season. Alexa Lewis played stellar defense in center field making several key catches to hold off a hard hitting Greenbriar JV team. CH increased its record to 5-1 with a 4-2 victory.

Collins Hill 9th grade 4 Harrison 12
CH beat Harrison in pool play so they were looking to settle the score. Harrison scored 6 runs in the first inning and never looked back. The final score was 12-4 with CH finishing runner-up in the Silver Bracket.

9th grade Eagles win first game against Parkview
The 9th grade Eagles routed Parkview 11 - 2 in their opening game. The game was delayed
by rain but that didn't dampen the girls desire to win. Sliding through the mud and hustling
helped the Eagles to victory.
