However, last week he was offered a scholarship to North Georgia College and State University to play the sport he prefers. I like baseball better and I really wanted to play in college, Morrison said. Of the seven seniors on the Collins Hill baseball team, Morrison is the sixth to sign a college baseball scholarship. Daniel Warzon was 3-for-3 with two home runs and four RBIs while Ryan Hansen was 2-for-2 with two homers and three RBIs. Ryan Seaver, Justin Earls and Michael Young each had one home run apiece for the Eagles. Saturday, March 11 Earls & Kolleda Combine for One Hitter Against Heritage Justin Earls and Allan Kolleda combined to allow only one hit and strike out seven batters to lead Collins Hill past Heritage 3-0 on Friday. Earls pitched five innings, did not allow a hit and had four strikeouts while Kolleda pitched two innings, surrendered only one hit and had three strikeouts. Sever had three hits and scored two runs. Daniel Warzon added a homer, Nick Sperounis went 2-for-3 with a double, Ryan Hansen 1-for-2 with a double and an RBI, and Michael Young 1-for-2 with an RBI and a run scored. Alan Kolleda pitched the final two iunnings to get the win in relief of Tyler Oliver, who allowed three hits and struck out six in five innings. Tuesday, February 28 Eagles Preview (the Gwinnett Daily Post) Outlook: The Eagles are coming off their first-ever appearance in the state playoffs and they look to have plenty of talent to duplicate the feat again in 2006. Lefthander Justin Earls, who shined for Team Georgia over the summer, might be the best pitcher in the county and the Eagles have plenty of talent behind him. Friday, November 18 Nick to play at University of New Haven - Congratulations Nick!!! Collins Hill senior Nick Sperounis will continue his baseball career in college after accepting a scholarship from the University of New Haven (Conn.). He is the son of Mike and Sue Sperounis. Sperounis, a middle infielder, hit .323 with 13 RBIs as the Eagles leadoff batter last season. He also hit .440 with runners in scoring position. Collins Hill seniors Ryan Hansen and Tyler Oliver have accepted college baseball scholarships Hansen to Truett-McConnell College and Oliver to the University of South Carolina-Upstate. Hansen, the son of Alan and Lisbeth Hansen, hit .327 last season as a junior first baseman. Although his season was shortened to 13 games, he also had three home runs and 13 RBIs. Oliver, the son of Donna Chapman, is a right-handed pitcher who had a 3.09 ERA with 19 strikeouts in 34 innings as a junior. From Gwinnett Daily News Tuesday, October 4 Earls commits to play baseball at Georgia - Congratulations, Justin! Justin Earls made a name for himself over the summer, starring for Junior Team Georgia. Now the Collins Hill senior hopes he can do the same at the University of Georgia. The left-handed pitcher, a Daily Post all-county selection, recently committed to the Bulldogs, choosing them over Georgia Tech. Earls had a standout junior season at Collins Hill, going 4-1 with a 1.44 ERA and 38 strikeouts in 39 innings despite missing four weeks with a broken finger. The son of Carol and Brian Earls said he liked Georgia for both its baseball pedigree and its closeness to home. Georgia is just a good fit for me. Ive been there a lot for showcases, Ive gotten to know the coaches and its close enough for my parents to come see me play. Thats the big thing.
