The College Station Tsunamis will travel to Huntsville to kick off the 2008 season on Saturday, May 17. Tsunamis need to check in beginning at 7:15 with Mrs. Pence. Warm-ups for 10 and unders will be from 7:35-7:50 and 11 and older swimmers will warm-up from 7:50-8:05. The meet is scheduled to begin at 8:15. All swimmers that haven't checked in by 7:55 am will be scratched from their relays.
Please see "locations" on our website to get directions to the Huntsville pool. For those of you that didn't go to Huntsville in 2007, this pool is NEW and is in downtown Huntsville. It is a different place than we swam in 2006 and prior years.
Remember that checking in at the meet, means that you must see your name get highlighted on the list! You should put your numbers on your hand/arm the night before the meet. We will have Sharpies and a couple of extra entry lists you can reference if needed.
If you find out after Tuesday night, that you cannot attend, please respect your teammates, by calling/emailing Jacky Pence 255-0361 at skittle@suddenlink.net so that we can make any adjustment to relays that may be necessary.
Huntsville will probably have approximately 135 swimmers. College Station has 120 swimmers signed up to swim at the first meet. The first meet of the season always moves a little bit slower than others as we have lots of new Tsunamis that will need to learn the process of the ready bench and staging the relays. We anticipate that the meet will be over about 12:00 p.m. If you are not in a freestyle relay, you will finish before this time, however PLEASE check out with your coach before you leave to make sure that you are not needed to swim in a relay.
You need to bring chairs and shade for your time in between races. Parents, remember that some of you will be needed to work during the meet, even though it is an away meet! We appreciate your help!
Huntsville will have a concession stand, so you are welcome to buy snacks and drinks from there or you are allowed to bring your own.
Heat sheets will be for sale and you should buy one at the beginning of the meet as it will be your road map of the meet! They usually sell for $2.
For any additional questions, please see Leslie McGinnis or Jacky Pence.
