College Station Parks and Recreation Department offers a recreational summer swim team experience for youngsters zoned to College Station Independent School District. Boys and girls ages 5-18 are welcome to swim with the Tsunamis!
2010 Tsunami Registration
The College Station Tsunamis have set registration dates for the 2010 season. We will again offer ON-LINE REGISTRATION and strongly encourage you to register from the convenience of your home or office. Website is: http://parksweb.cstx.gov We will also offer walk-in and mail in registration, but would prefer that you register on-line. Registration information will be e-mailed to all returning swimmers by the week of March 8th. Swimmer registrations (for all swimmers, new and returning) will be accepted beginning March 15. If you do choose to come to the Central Park Office, it is open from Monday-Friday from 8:00-5:00. (remember that if you register ON-LINE, you can register any time that is convenient for you! Please note that the Volunteer form, or the "no-volunteer fee, must be completed along with the registration form for the registration to be accepted. Space will be limited in each age group and spots will be filled on a first come, first serve basis.
2010 Registration cost is $110 per swimmer. The fee includes all practices and all regular season meets and a t-shirt for each swimmer. (Any invitational meets that the swimmer qualifies for and chooses to attend will have a nominal fee attached).
Please note that only children that are zoned to College Station ISD schools or live in a town that doesn't have an NWAL team (i.e. Caldwell) are eligible to swim with the Tsunamis, per the NWAL rules.
2010 Swim Meet Officials Wanted!!
Hey Tsunami Parents, we will definitely need additional stroke and turn officials, referees, starters, etc. for the 2010 season. Training classes will be here in town at the College Station Conference Center in late April. You would be really helping the Tsunamis and would always have a great view of every race! Please let Jacky or Leslie know that you're interested in attending and/or go to the NWAL website (click on the headline of this article) for additional information.
Stroke Clinic Available for Area Swimmers!
Any area swimmer (regardless of where swimmer lives) that would like to improve their swimming strokes can participate in the annual College Station Stroke Clinic. You can sign up for classes on Monday/Wednesday or Tuesday/Thursday. Classes begin on March 29th and there are 8 lessons. Cost is $50 for College Station residents and $75 for all other participants.
Registration begins on-line or at the Central Parks office on March 15th and continues through Friday, March 26th. Register early so that you can select your preferred class time/days. Click on the headline of this article to go to our on-line registration, or website is: http://parksweb.cstx.gov
All four racing strokes (freestyle, backstroke, butterfly, and breaststroke) in addition to racing starts and fast turns and finishes will be taught. Class size is limited so that each student receives quality instruction.
This class is for intermediate/advanced swimmers. A child that can not swim one full length of a pool without help will not be allowed to participate in this class. Our parks department does offer swim lessons for beginning swimmers. (Please note that beginning swimmers can have a very successful summer on our swim team as our inexperienced swimmers only need to be comfortable in the water and able to swim on their own for approximately 25 yards).
Stroke Clinic is harder than swim team, because over half the lessons are spent on butterfly and breaststroke, flip turns, and racing dives.
2010 Swim Meet Schedule
This is the swim meet schedule for 2010. All swimmers are encouraged to participate in all the dual meets. They will all be on Saturday mornings and will start at 8:15 a.m. or 8:30 a.m. The length of the meet will vary depending on the number of swimmers entered from each team.

Sat. May 29 Tsunamis HOME vs. Lee County
Sat. June 5 Tsunamis HOME vs. Brenham
Sat. June 12 Tsunamis AWAY vs. Huntsville
Sat. June 19 Divisionals AT Navasota (to be eligible, swimmer must have participated in a minimum of two regular season meets)
Sat./Sun. June 26/June 27 Invitational Meets in Houston (all swimmers that achieve qualifying times will be eligible and encouraged to attend!)
College Station Tsunamis are the 2009 FAR NORTH DIVISION CHAMPIONS!
Congratulations to all College Station Tsunamis and their families that won the 2009 Far North Division Championships on Saturday, June 20th. This is our fifth consecutive year to win Divisionals and go undefeated throughout the season. Special thanks to all of our swimmers and their families that attended the Divisional meet. Each of you contributed to our championship!
