The Arizona Pilots began their Midwest swing today at Northern Illinois University (NCAA Division I) in Dekalb with a 8-0 victory against the White Sox Scout Team (17u). Colton Farnsworth drove in Koby Temple to give the Pilots a 1-0 in the first inning, while Temple, Garison Hensley, Farnsworth and Nick Vos each had an RBI in the Pilots 4 run 3rd inning. Colton Farnsworth had three hits for the Pilots. Brad Schnitzel threw a complete game shutout on the hill for the Pilots. In the second game of the day against the Illinois Northstars, the Pilots got behind early and lost 12-6. Brandon Merrill, Nick Vos and Brad Schnitzel all hit well for the Pilots while Garrett McMullin played exceptional defense for the Pilots. Saturday June 10 Doubleheader at Kishwaukee College (NJCAA Division I) was rained out, group spent the day in downtown Chicago then drove to Milwaukee (90 minutes) to see the Brewers/Cardinals game at Miller Park. Great Day, outstanding park! Sunday June 11 -GAME: vs White Sox Academy-(19u) Lost 4-3 Probably the most competitve game against a team filled with NCAA Division I players, Corey Kimes threw 5 innings and Tyler Crawford two as the Indiana team singled in the botton of the 6th, to take a 4-3 lead. Offensively Garison Hensley and Koby Temple had two hits. -GAME: vs Indiana Heat (16u) Won 3-0 In a battle of Junior Olympic teams, the Pilots came out on top with Kyle Conroy throwing a strong 5 innings, David Monroe pitched the 6th and Colton Farnsworth completing the shutout by getting the last three outs. The Pilots moved to 2-2 on thr trip. Monday June 12 OFF DAY Colleges visited: Bradley University (NCAA DI), Norhwestern University (NCAA DI), Olivet University (NCAA DIII) and Northern Illinois University (NCAA DI) and the University of Chicago (NCAA DIII). Tuesday June 13 Pilots woke up and headed toward Chicago to visit Coach Luke Johnson and the North Park University (NCAA DIII) campus. The campus is absolutely beautiful within the northern portion of Chicago. Small town feel which sits on a very busy city block. Great facilities! Pilots moved to Benedictine University (NCAA DIII) in Lisle, Illinois, just a short drive to the suburbs of Chicago. Benedictine has gorgeous facilities and is the college of former Pilot and Flagstaff High graduate Kevin Scott. The Pilots played the DuPage Dragons on their field. Pilots suffered a 6-1 defeat in a 9 inning contest. Tyler Crawford threw 6 innings and Koby Temple threw the final 2. Crawford singled home Garrett McMullin to give the Pilots a 1-0 lead after two. DuPage came right back with 2 in the next three frames, to cruise to the victory. Following a quick lunch, the Pilots headed to Marist High School to play the Sparks Travelers, another Junior Olympic team. Pilots won this game 3-2 with Garison Hensley throwing the first 3 innings, Mitch Terrell throwing the next 3 before giving way to Kyle Conroy for two and Colton Farnsworth closed the game for his second save of the trip. Offensively Terrell drove in the winning run in the botton of the 8th. Wednesday June 14 Pilots left Chicago at 7am and headed toward Omaha. Stopping at the Field of Dreams movie site for an hour and worked out on the field. After leaving Dyersville, we stopped at the Upper Iowa University (NCAA Division II) in Fayette, Iowa for a tour of their campus. From Fayette we moved west to Wartburg College (NCAA DIII) in Waverly, Iowa. The Wartburg facilities are outstanding and have a skywalk system that connects most of the buildings on campus to keep students inside during the colder months of the year. Following Wartburg, the Pilots moved south to Grinnell College NCAA DIII) and had another tour of some exceptional facilites. All three colleges sit in small towns and boast remarkable athletic and academic facilities. Thursday June 15 College World Series Opening Ceremonies at Rosenblatt Stadium We attended Open Team Practice Sessions and The Road to Omaha Jam where Omaha’s best bands performed against the backdrop of Rosenblatt Stadium. Enjoyed the entire atmosphere of the College World Series. Friday June 16 We attended the CWS Game-Clemson vs Georgia Tech game that saw Clemson win. Then to the Cal State Fullerton vs North Carolina game that saw Carolina win in 13 innings. WHAT A GAME. Saturday June 17 Some students visited University of Nebraska (Omaha) (NCAA Division II) in the morning, but all attended the Rice vs Georgia game at Rosenblatt Stadium in the afternoon ... RICE wins. The night cap saw two rain delays, including a record CWS shortest rain delay of 4 minutes, but the Oregon State Beavers could not hold back the Miami Hurricanes as Miami won 11-1. Overall, this trip provided the students with a great perspective of the different levels of collegiate baseball and that just because you play Division III baseball, you dont work out of outstanding facilities. The facilities at all the NCAA DIII programs we visited were top notch and rival any DI in the country. They also were able to see the level of play that the top 8 DI programs offer. We believe its all about giving the students perspective and information. Without these experiences, we cannot learn. Now its up to these students to begin to make up their own mind on what they experienced and see if it is right for them. For the coaches, on trips like this we try to get to know the students without laying out a bunch of rules for them to follow. We try to create a safe environment where we can watch them interact with others and how they handle themselves away from home. This will be a good indication of how they will be when the enter the college environment. We feel strict itinereries, tight schedules and unwanted rules only defeat our purpose of getting to know each individual. This helps us provide each student and family with the best possible information as they begin to select a college for them. It also allows each student to create their own trip based on their needs and goals. With a small group, on the field we competed extremely well and I am very happy with the way we played overall. Our record was 3-3 (with 2 rainouts) and the 2 of the 3 losses were against teams that had an overwhelming majority of their players playing collegiately. Our group (listed below) had no collegiate players nor did it have any 2006 grads. Garison Hensley, 2007 Koby Temple, 2007 Colton Farnsworth, 2008 Kyle Conroy, 2008 TJ Lewis, 2008 Garrett McMullin, 2008 Chris Chasse, 2008 Mitch Terrell, 2009 Brandon Merrell, 2010 Tyler Crawford, 2011

2005 Pilots East Coast Classic
2005 Pilots East Coast Classic June 30 Pilots arrive in Boston's Logan Airport. July 1 The day began as a typical Boston Summer day with fog and drizzling rain, but eventually burned off to a beautiful day with the temperatures in the mid to upper 70's. The Pilots began their day with a workout at Harvard University on their baseball field. After the workout, the team split into two groups, with one group going to Connecticut to begin the 7th Annual Triple Crown Invitational, while the second half stayed in Boston, rode the subway (the "T") and visited Fenway Park. Upon leaving Fenway, almost half of the Pilots players were now wearing a new Red Sox jersey. In the Triple Crown tournament game, the travel and early morning workout proved to be too much on the legs of the Pilots as they committed 6 errors in the game and lost 11-3 to the Pokers Baseball Club (CT). Armando Moran had two doubles for the Pilots while Carlos Ramirez and Wes Demello also hit well for the Pilots. July 2 The Pilots continued to be split today and were be back in action in Connecticut against the Ottawa Canadians and New York Cardinals. Jason Sweet pitched against the Cardinals and the Pilots continued to struggled as they went down 11-1. Sweet suffered the loss while the Canadians two hit the Pilots. In game two the Pilots got on track offensively with Gordo Carrillo, Wes Demello, Armando Moran and Chris Marvin carrying the team, but the story of the day was a 6 1/3 inning perfomance from Ryan Palmer. Palmer went into the 7th, but ran out of gas and closer David Nash came on and threw two pitches and recorded two outs, giving the Pilots and Palmer the victory. Group Two traveled from Boston to the Berkshires and settled in at the Duquette Sports Academy. After enjoying a meal in the dining hall, the Pilots had a game against the Dalton Warriors Baseball Club. Paul Bridenbaugh pitched 5 strong innings, while Connor Whalen and Nick Salahub each threw one inning of scoreless baseball as the Pilts defeated the Dalton club 7-1. Offensively Eric O'brien, Matt LeVac and Wes Demello carried the Pilots. After the game the Pilots and the Dalton club ate pizza together as this is becoming an annual event for these two clubs. Sun July 3 The Pilots split into two groups again today with Coach Elmer and Honne taking group one to Connecticut again to play the South Philadelphia A's in the first round of the championship bracket. The Pilts received an outstanding 4 hit perfromance from Mikey Cocciardi, who kept the A's hitters off balance all day long. The Pilots won 7-0 with Matt LeVac, Ryan Jackson and Maxx Buchanan banging out three hits each. LeVac also drove in 4 runs for the Pilots with 2 doubles. In their second game of the day, the Pilots faced the Pokers Baseball Club(CT) with Nick Salahub on the mound, but suffered a 3-2 loss. Zach Kimball, Paul Bridenbaugh and Zack Kreisheimer all hit well for the Pilots. This group traveled back to the Duquette Sports Academy to meet up with the remainder of their teammates later in the day. Group Two played their game in Williamstown, Massachusetts and visited the site where the first college baseball game ever was played (Williams/Amherst). Armando Moran threw a complete game one hitter, while Gordo Carrillo, Carlos Ramirez and Ryan Palmer each had one RBI to lead the Pilots to a 3-0 win over the Lanesboro Mounties. After the game, the Pilots visitied Williams College, one of the top NCAA Division Colleges in the Country athletically and academically. After 3 days, the Pilots have an overall record of 4-3 on the trip. Mon July 4 In an early match up, The Pilots earned a birth to the Triple Crown Nationals in Colorado this fall with a 7-0 win! The group will have the rest of the day off and enjoy the facilities of the baseball academy. Group Two played the Lanesboro Mounties in a rematch of yesterdays battle and were paced by Carlos Ramirez's 2 home runs and 6 RBI,as the Pilots beat the Lanesboro club, 19-3. Connor Whalen, Sean Amerson and Jason Sweet combined on the mound to keep the Mounties off balance. The Pilots hammered out 22 hits in this contest and was one of those games when all the Pilot bats came to play. Mikey Cocciardi had a double and a triple and 6 RBI, while Eric O'Brien added a pair of hits a 3 RBI. The Pilots had the opportunity to go on the field at historic Wahconah Park to throw out the first pitch for the NEBCL game (similar to the Cape League). The Berkshire Dukes were playing the Concord Quarry Dogs. After the game the Dukes had fireworks. Former Pilot and Chaparral High graduate, Ryan Davis plays in this league. Davis will be entering his second year at Vanderbilt University. After 4 days, the Pilots are 6-3 on the trip. The weather has been absolutely gorgeous, mid 80's during the days and low 60's at night. Tue July 5 Today the Pilots left at 9am for the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, New York. They will return at 4pm for the third game of the series against the Lanesboro Lions. Zack Kreisheimer took the mound for the Pilots in the night game and let the team to a 5-1 victory, bringing the Pilots to a 7-3 record on the trip. Wed July 6 Today was the first "day off" for the Pilots and spent the day at 6 Flags-New England. Sean Amerson, Eric O'Brien, Ryan Palmer, Armando Moran, Zack Kimball and Zack Kreisheimer won the contest of the most trips on the Superman roller coaster and had to be pulled away from the park. Thu July 7 Another off day on the baseball field, today the Pilots experienced the effects of the terrorists attacks in London as the subway system was shut down for a few hours as the city regrouped and raised the security level a notch. This made for an interesting experience for the Pilots as they entered the city. Upon our arrival, we spent a combined 5 hours in Times Square and Ground Zero before driving north to the Bronx and the Yankee-Indians game. The Yankees won and the city was back to normal again! Fri July 8 The Pilots woke up to heavy rain as 3 inches were predicted to fall on New England. We visited Salve Regina University, the college that former Pilot Steven Tressler attends. Salve coach Steve Cirella showed the group the campus and gave a very informative talk about the college and the entire recruiting process. The Pilots game against West Warwick Post #2 at McCarthy Stadium in West Warwick was postponed due to rain. No make up date has been set. Sat July 9 The Pilots woke to another day of rain from the hurricane named "Cindy" and spent some of the day at the mall. In the afternoon, the skies cleared as we went to the Providence, Rhode Island area for a split squad doubleheader. The group coached by Coach Elmer was leading in game one 1-0 when a major thunderstorm broke loose and the field was unplayable. Over in Cranston Rhode Island, the team coached by Coach Fallon was lucky enough to have gotten 6 innings in and were down 4-3 when the skies opened up and their game was called after 5 complete, giving Ryan Palmer the tough luck loss. In that game, Ian Puffenberger and David Nash played exceptionally well and Gordo Carrillo had two hits. Sun July 10 The Pilots will try again tonight as they take on the Rhode Island defending champions and current league leaders, Auburn Post 20 at Cranston Stadium in Cranston, Rhode Island. Mon July 11 • Travel Day to Boston’s Logan Airport, then back to Phoenix. • Coaches will bring players to Logan airport and see them to their flights

Jimmy Tooley will attend Johns Hopkins University
| Jimmy Tooley will attend Johns Hopkins University Jimmy Tooley (Catalina Foothills) has been accepted (early decision) at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore , Maryland. Tooley took an extensive visit this fall to several colleges and met with the coaches to help make his decision. Other schools that Tooley was interested in were Harvard University, Brown University, Columbia University, Georgetown University, Tufts University, Amherst College and Williams College. "Jimmy Tooley did a tremendous job through his search for a college," Stated Jeff Fallon, "He understood that it was all about finding the best possible college for HIM ... and did not get caught up with who was calling and who was emailing and who was sending letters." Fallon continued, "He listened to our advice, was realistic about his baseball abilities and knew that academics was the main focus of the college recruiting and planning process. Too many students (and parents) get caught up in having a coach 'want' them, as opposed to finding the right college for the right reasons." Tooley will enter his senior baseball season at Catalina Foothills knowing where he will be attending college, now thats a good feeling! Tooley is the second Pilot player from Catalina Foothills to have selected his college early, outfielder Brayden Ashdown has committed to the University of Notre Dame and marked the 11th FCYS/Pilots member to have made their college choice. Below is a list of 2006 FCYS/Pilots members to have made their college choices are: UNIVERSITY OF ARIZONA (2) 1. Taylor Lewis (Canyon del Oro) 2. Mike Weldon (Canyon del Oro) ARIZONA STATE UNIVERSITY (1) 3. Jason Mitchell (Mountain Pointe) UNIVERSITY OF NOTRE DAME (1) 4. Brayden Ashdown (Catalina Foothills) JOHNS HOPKINS UNIVERSITY (1) 5.
