The most recent news that we've received is that the Prince William Board of Supervisors has added the $4.6M Helwig Park project into next year's budget. Originally, the word was that the county would be offering the bond issue to pay for the project in December, 2008, which would have the park ready for use possibly in April, 2011, more likely April, 2012. This week, we've received word that the bond issue may be accelerated to July, 2009. If this occurs, occupancy in 2011 would be more of a reality. The league's government liason has a meeting with the Park Authority next week, where we hope that these topics can be confirmed. For now, the members of Coles Little League need to continue to band together as a community to let the supervisors know that they need to make this project happen, and happen soon. Please take the time to send our Coles County Supervisor, Marty Nohe, an email (mnohe@pwcgov.org) - tell him our kids deserve new baseball and softball fields! Tell him to start building our new Complex soon!! To pass that same message onto the rest of the Board of County Supervisors you can access the BOCS email addresses at this web address: http://www.pwcgov.org/default.aspx?topic=010016000030000442, while the PAB contact information is located at: http://www.pwcparks.org/AboutUs/BoardMembers/tabid/104/Default.aspx. When this starts, any bat without the marking, or a BPF greater than 1.15, will be removed from the game. Also, another reminder, at any time, the barrel of a bat used in any sixty-foot diamond program cannot exceed 2 1/4 inches in diameter.
