Coconino Little League: Welcome

NOTE:  Opening day, April 10th, is no longer a tentative date.  We will have an alternate location on that date for pictures only if there is inclement weather or snow on the fields.

Dear Parents and Players,

            Coconino Little League is pleased to announce registration dates for the 2010 season!

·         Mail in registration accepted now until February 28, 2010.

·         Registration and Tryouts, February 20^th 9AM – Noon. DeMiguel School.

·         Registration only, February 24^th  6:30PM – 8:30 PM. Kinsey School.

·         Registration and Tryouts, March 6^th 9AM – Noon. DeMiguel School.

We are also pleased to announce that registration fees for this season will remain the same as last year.  The fee for Tee Ball players is $85 and the fee for all other players is $95, with a $225 maximum per family.  The fee includes uniforms (except pants), pictures, trophies and special events.  No other league in the city provides all of these benefits!  Last year it cost the league approximately $160 per player to run the league (a complete financial breakdown will be available at registration).  The difference is made up through business sponsorships and other fundraising.  We will be selling cookie dough as a fundraiser again this year, with the option to “buy out” at the same rate as last year of $30 per player.  Information regarding team sponsorships and field banners is available under the handouts link.

We have decided not to offer on-line registration this year due to high costs.  Mail-in registration is available, with the registration forms available for download at http://www.eteamz.com/CoconinoLittleLeague/handouts/

Other important items for the 2010 registration:

·         Players must be at least five years old by April 30, 2010.

·         Players must live within the Coconino Little League boundaries in order to register.  Exception: Players who have previously registered with the league with no break in service may continue to play in the league even if they have moved.

·         Copies of birth certificates and proof of residency (driver’s license or utility bill) must be provided to register.  This includes all returning players.

·         All players 8 years and older must attend one tryout/evaluation date.  Players who have been previously assigned to a Major Division team do not need to tryout.  Juniors will tryout at a date and location TBD.

Once again this year we are partnering with Flagstaff Little League in running a joint Junior Division (13 and 14 year olds).  Juniors who live within our boundaries should register with Coconino Little League.  We will also be combining with Flagstaff Little League for our All-Star Tournament teams (subject to the approval of Little League Baseball, Inc.).  We believe that this change will result in more competitive tournament teams and the ability to recruit more players.

Other important dates for the 2010 season:

·         March 17^th: Team assignments announced.

·         March 22^nd: Practices begin at the team Manager’s discretion.

·         April 10^th: Opening Day and team photos.

·         May 27^th: Last day of regular season.

·         June 1^st: City tournament starts (Major Division only)

·         June 14^th: All-Star Tournament teams announced.

Coconino Little League is run completely by volunteers.  We are always looking for volunteers, so please contact any member of the Board of Directors if you would like to be more involved in the league.

Coconino LL Boundaries:  Serving the Southwestern portion of Flagstaff, South of the BNSF Railroad Tracks and West of Enterprise.  Including the areas of South Beaver, NAU, Old Town, Railroad Springs, Pine Knoll, University Heights, Bellemont, Ponderosa Trails, Kachina/Mountainaire, Flagstaff Ranch, Pine Canyon, Forest Highlands and Munds Park.
