SCAHL Memorandum

To: All Teams and officials

From: Greg Davenport – League Statistician

Subject: SCAHL Mouthguard RuleDate: September 25, 2007

Comment: New for the 2007-08 season the SCAHL (AA Hockey) has instituted a required mouth guard rule. Following is the excerpt from the SCAHL Constitution:

121. (w) - Except for goaltenders, the proper wearing of commercially manufactured internal mouth guards made for the purpose of protecting a player’s mouth, teeth and as an aid in reducing the effect of trauma causing concussion is mandatory for all players while they are in “game play”. HC rules concerning the wearing of protective equipment shall be applied in the same manner as for helmets during “game play”. (i.e., This rule would not apply during warm-ups, stoppage of play, or when players are on the player or penalty benches.)

It will be the SCAHL Reps responsibility to insure that this new rule is provided to the Referees Associations as required so that they may enforce this rule.

Thanks

Greg Davenport
