The 2008/09 season has come to an end and it has certainly been an interesting season to say the least!

We have seen another year of young official hopefuls joining the fray and have been impressed with their ongoing confidence, integrity and willingness to improve. These characteristics have resulted in a more favorable interaction with the coaches and players in the majority of the games this season. With this kind of support, we will be able to develop these kids into strong, skilled officials that will help improve the quality of the games.

We're still working towards a more positive and supportive attitude from coaches, fans and parents as this season has once again strained the esteem of the younger officials. This is continually challenged by some that have lost focus on what the game is really all about. Hopefully they will realize that the officials are learning the game as well as the players and they also have fans in the crowd, mainly their parents and friends, cheering them on in their effort of working hard and applying the rules best they can. We are proud of the effort and confidence displayed by our young officials and the professionalism they approach each game with.

The Cochrane Referees Association is also proud and fortunate once again to be strongly supported by the Cochrane Minor Hockey Association and greatfully sponsored by the awesome people at Northland Pontiac Buick GMC. We are fortunate with these relationships as it has afforded us to build a strong association and tradition in the Cochrane community.

Please note that the next CRA General Meeting of the 2008/09 season scheduled for THURSDAY, APRIL 9th at 7:30 pm, has been CANCELLED and will be rescheduled at a later date.

As soon as we have rebooked the meeting, we will confirm the new date as well as send out an agenda.
