|
| Shoop Says, "Not in my house, Wags!"
|
 |
Cobalts not getting much quality competiton as they steamroll (13-3) another half-clothed squad who think singlets and cut shirts are cool on a diamond...Although they did let Wags know who was Boss!
With the season midway complete, the 'Balts look forward to seeing some of the regular CRC teams who have made the league what it's been for 30+ years - it can't come soon enough.

In the Thursday Night Opener, Ryan Martinez goes yard and Josh Parsons goes the distance to give the Cobalts an 8-3 victory over Clermont....both kids are solid parts of the new-look 'Balts.
Then in double-header action on Sunday, the Cobalts rolled to 16-0 and 7-1 victories.
So Cobalts are 10-0 going into the meat of the schedule. Some good tests are coming soon.

Cobalts Win 7th Straight Then Time For Natch Boats
Wags goes Man-Ram with 6 RBIs in a 10-2 victory over the College Royals Sunday afternoon. Chris Sunderman gets the Win and El Vic-a-tor slams the door for the Hold (goat-bearded bone fissures and all).
Also seen at beautiful Hille Park were Deuce Hock, Danny Bell, and "Marge" Dietz....good to see the fellas!!!
In typical fashion this season, Game 2 was a total and complete wash-out. So, out came Coach's stash of Natches and good times were had by all.
Cobalts are 7-0 in 2009 with many games to make-up.

Bombs by Wags and TT lead the offense in 8-1 and 10-0 double header vistories on Sunday over the Cincinnati Creds.

Coach Retires But Cobalts Continue
As advertised, Mark "Coach" Dietz has officially retired as active manager of the Cincinnati Cobalts Semi Pro Baseball Club. I will now start over and establish the 4-Year Old "Semi Pro" Tee-Ball Cobalts (Lord help me).
But the Big 'Balts are in the capable hands of Player Coach Tom Taylor and will go into Year #23 with all guns blazing toward another NABF World Series title run.
The Cobalts are in the midst of setting their schedule within the competitive CRC Thursday/Sunday League.
Look for some new faces to be sprinkled in with the old cast of characters on this year's squad.
I would like to thank the thousands (yes, thousands) of Cobalt Players who donned our uniform and took the field for me over the span of 3 decades. It has been an honor and a lot of fun (mostly) to go to battle with all of you.
I'll be watching. And don't ever forget: Once a 'Balt, Always a 'Balt!!!
cheers,
Coach (out)

Cobalts Claim the Crown of Queen City
 |
|
| Champs 3 of last 5 years!
|
 |
Cobalts took home the hardware Friday night in the Cincinnati City Championship Tournament with a 5-1 victory over the Cincinnati Hawks. Big offensive night from Brian Stoecklein, Mikey Taylor, and Mike Hatfield.
The pitching staff was once again impresive! This time it was young lefty Jacob Campbell going 5 innings and then Shannon Morgan finishing the last two of scoreless work. All told in the Tournament, the 'Balt Staff only gave up a measley 3 runs to the top teams in Greater Cincinnati....wow!!!
And, behind every great pitching performance is great dish work and Jason Cohill gets extra props for catching four-of-five games in the Tournament - tip of the cap to the iron man - especially in this heat.
Tip of the cap also to the Hawks who fought their way thru the deep loss-bracket to make it to the City Finals. Good luck to them as they represent Cincinnati in the Buckeye Championship Tournament in Akron!
So the City Champ Cobalts will take a well deserved break until the NABF Regionals begin Thursday night at Roselawn Park. Competition will be gunning for us, we know, so the 'Balts will have to bring it every inning of every game - sounds like fun!!!
Cobalts Championship Victory was their 30th of the 2008 campaign and stand 30-5.
