Central Massachusetts Senior Babe Ruth: History of League
The League was formed as part of Central Mass Babe Ruth (CMBR) in order to provide an opportunity for 16-18 year olds to continue playing the game of baseball. CMSRBR has maintained a non-sanctioned status from Babe Ruth of America (BRA) in order to structure the season, playoffs, and our unique CMSRBR World Series schedules without meeting the time tables of BRA. We also extended the age limit to include a limited number of 15 year olds before BRA did the same. CMSRBR has gone one step further by allowing 14 year olds in the league under certain stipulations (i.e. they are playing for a High School baseball team).
In addition, CMSRBR has had a number of towns who have participated in the league. Again, CMSRBR allows more flexibility to those towns who may not be able to meet the guidelines of BRA.
CMSRBR does utilize many of the Rules of BRA as well as the MIAA.
