The Coronado Masters (swimming) Association (CMA) is a non-profit, tax-exempt swim club for adults 18 years of age and older. We are one of several San Diego area clubs registered with the U.S. Masters Swimming (USMS), Inc., through the Local Masters Swimming Committee for the San Diego and Imperial Counties.
Our Purpose is to enhance members’ physical and general fitness and health through a program of regular swimming workouts, meet competition, open-water swims and rejuvenating social events.
Workouts are on Monday, Wednesday and Friday evenings, from 6:20 to 7:45 p.m. in the main pool (50 meters, 7 lanes), Coronado Municipal Pools, 1845 Strand Way, Coronado, CA, 92118; phone (619) 522-7803.
Competitions, that is, several pool meets plus open-water events, are hosted by the CMA each year. Additional meets and open-water races are held at several other locations throughout San Diego County. Event schedules are included in the CMA and San Diego Swim Masters newsletters.
Costs for the CMA membership are a one-time Initiation Fee of $5.00 plus $20.00 Annual Dues (includes one meet entry fee). A Coaching Charge and workout Fee of $30.00 per month offsets the cost of renting the pool and paying the coach. The fee also includes covering the pool in the winter months. Members may also pay $60.00 for a 12-workout card, usable at their convenience.
U.S. Masters Swimming (USMS) registration is a MUST for all CMA members participating in scheduled workouts and USMS-sanctioned events. This provides coverage for liability insurance (required). The annual registration fee is $40.00 and includes a subscription to SWIM magazine, on-line information services and secondary accident/medical insurance. USMS registration forms are available at the Muni Pool on the CMA Information Board. NOTE: CMA members normally register as San Diego Swim Masters (SDSM, Club #01), in order to facilitate swimming on RELAYS with other S.D. competitive swimmers at pool meets and ocean relay events.
