The camp will run Monday through Friday and each child will be coached by a member of the professional British staff flown to the USA exclusively to perform a series of summer coaching camps for Challenger British Soccer. Challenger British Soccer will this year be responsible for coaching more than 100,000 players and over 20,000 coaches in the USA.  Their philosophy of age and ability specific training with maximum participation aims to develop players and take them to the next level.  The camp will cover such areas as individual skill development, game related techniques, tactical awareness and development, and coached match play. You can register online and receive a FREE replica British Soccer jersey at Challenger Sports, or by mailing in the registration form and payment to CMAA, PO Box 60, Frederick MD 21705.  For more information contact Mark Tognetti at  240-215-4265 or cmaa.soccer@gmail.com.

Last Summer 85 players from 3 to 15 partipcated in the Camp! The most popular part of the camp was the Camp Word Cup. The coaches used this daily tournament to teach the players about life, customs and traditions of other countries. The campers are asked to make up cheers, bring flags, dress up and learn as much as they can about the country they represent.   Pictures from this year's camp are available here.

Soccer FAQs

We will add to the following list of Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) throughout the season...
  1. What leagues does CMAA Soccer participate in? The CMAA participates in the following soccer leagues:

    • U4 Clinic - in-house with no competitive games
    • U6 – in-house with competitive games but no score kept
    • U8 – plays either in the Double Nickel League (DNL) with competitive games but no score kept OR Frederick County Youth Soccer League (FCYSL) with competitive games
    • U10 – U16 – Frederick County Youth Soccer League with competitive games
  2. When does the Spring 2009 season start? FCYSL has not published their schedule as yet, but the first games will likely begin on either the last Saturday in March or the first Saturday in April. The season lasts eight weeks. Games are typically Saturdays with the occasional Sunday game. Most teams will begin practice in early March.
  3. When are practices and games held? Each coach will set the practice days and times for their team. For U8 and above, most coaches hold two practices a week in the evenings and games are Saturday or Sunday. U6 teams tend to hold a single practice per week in the evening, with a game on Saturday. The U4 Clinics meet once a week typically on Saturday mornings or one evening during the week.
  4. Where are practices and games held? For U8 and above, practices will be held at one of four locations; Carroll Manor Elementary School, the Adamstown Fire Department Carnival grounds, Green Hill Park or Tuscarora Elementary School. All home games are played at Carroll Manor Elementary School. For U4 and U6, all practices and games are typically held at Green Hill Park.
  5. What is the uniform fee for? CMAA went to a common, high quality Adidas uniform (U8 and above) in the Fall of 2007. The $50 is fee in line with other associations. Our players will be able move from season to season and/or team to team without having to buy another uniform. Replacement jerseys, shorts and socks can be purchased separately.
  6. What do the age groups mean? The U in the age groups stands for Under and the age is determine based on the child's age on July 31, 2008. CMAA does not allow players to "play down" for safety reasons. For example, your child must have been under eight years old on July 31, 2008 in order to play U8 soccer. CMAA will allow players to "play up" one age group if they have appropriate skills and physical abilities. Generally, we encourage players to stay at their correct age group and play at the highest division they are capable.
  7. What is the difference between the U7/U8 Coed 5v5 and the U8 Coed - FCYSL levels? The U7/U8 Coed 5v5 level is intended to be an interim step between our inhouse U6 program and the FCYSL U8 league. CMAA U7/U8 teams participate with two other local soccer associations in the Double Nickel League. The teams play 5v5 (including goalies) and no score is kept. Teams will travel short distances (within 30 minutes) for about half of their games. The U8 Coed - FCYSL program plays 7v7 (including a goalies). FCYSL teams are located in and around Frederick County from as far west as Hagerstown, north to Smithsburg and east to Mount Airy.
  8. Why does CMAA have a common uniform? We went to a common uniform in the Fall of 2007 (U8 and above) for two reasons; 1) our community is growing rapidly and it's time that CMAA established an "identity" to rally around and 2) our players will be able move from season to season and/or team to team without having to buy another uniform. Our $50 is fee in line with other associations. Our uniforms are high quality Adidas apparel.
  9. What do the registration fees cover? The registration fees cover the following; Maryland State Youth Soccer Association fees, Frederick County Youth Soccer League fees, referee fees, insurance, equipment (balls, pinnies, goals, paint, cones, goalie jerseys, etc.), field usage fees, trophies and tournament entries. In addition, some of the fees go toward funding the new fields on the EastAlco property. Our registration fees are either in line with or slightly less than nearby associations.
  10. What is the youngest player CMMA will accept? We typically start kids playing at 3 years old in our U4 Clinic.
