Ashley Nguyen and Julia Vigen Selected to Participate in the 2009 Washington State Coaches All State Volleyball Series

Ashley Nguygen

#15 - Ashley Nguyen

Julia Vigen

#16 - Julia Vigen

Senior Ashley Nguyen (outside hitter) and Senior Julia Vigen (setter) from the 18 Black Ikaika team, were selected to play in the 2009 Washington State Coaches Association All State Volleyball Series this summer.  The matches will be held on Saturday July 19 at Fife High School.

"The selection of both Ashley and Julia to the All State Volleyball Team Series is the ultimate validation and recognition of all the hard work, dedication, commitment, and leadership both players have contributed to their respective high school programs at Kentridge and Highline High Schools.  It is also recognition of their year around commitment to improving their volleyball skills and game by playing club volleyball with the Wahine volleyball program.  I have had the honor and opportunity to coach both Ashley (2 years) and Julia (4 years) in the Wahine program.  Both Ashley and Julia are outstanding volleyball players on and off the court and are also outstanding students in the classroom.  Ashley and Julia and their respective families should be proud of their selection and opportunity to play in the All State volleyball series.  It has been an honor for me to be their club coach at Club Wahine."

I'm asking that all Wahine players and parents support Ashley and Julia on July 19 at Fife High School.  Julia will be playing in the 2A/3A match starting at 6:00 p.m. and Ashley will be playing in the 4A match starting at 8:00 p.m.

Wahine Teams Compete in Lone Star Qualifier in Dallas

U-18 teams Ikaika and Lokahi both participated in the Lone Star Qualifier tournament last weekend in Dallas, Texas.  The tournament was an outstanding tournament with 94 volleyball sport courts in the Dallas Convention Center.  There are over 1,200 teams entered into the Lone Star Qualifier which encompasses two separate weekends.  The competition was excellent and a majority of the teams were from the States of Texas, Louisiana, New Mexico, Alabama, and the East Coach.  Both teams enjoyed the tournament and the sites around Dallas.  This year was our first participating in the Lone Star Qualifier and based on this year's experience, we will return next year.

Eric Lewis Memorial Fund

I wanted to thank all the coaches, administrators, players and families that contributed to the Eric Lewis Memorial Fund at Mount Rainier High School by either cash, check, or participating in the dinner and charity basketball game. The donations and contributions helped Eric's family during this difficult time in their lives.  The club received a warm thank you and appreciation from the school administrators at Mount Rainier High School for our contributions to the memorial fund.  This show of support towards the Mount Rainier High School community was awesome and noteworthy.
