If I can get enough interest from parents and players that qualify to play at the U-13 age level, we will be hosting a U-13 and Under Tryout Makeup Session on Wednesday, November 18, 2009 at 7:00 p.m. at Mount Rainier High School.  We are hoping to fill the remaining 5-6 spots to have a team made up of only U-13 age athletes.

Per USA Volleyball, Puget Sound Region policy, we have posted the Player Contracts for the 2009-2010 Club Season in our Handouts Section.  We have a contract for each anticipated team.  If a player is selected by Club Wahine and agrees to play for this club, each player and their parent will need to print and sign a copy of the contract for their applicable age group.  Please note that upon signing, the contract is legally binding.

The "Regional teams" are the U-13, U-14, and U-15 teams.  The contracts for these teams are identical and the total club season cost is $1,590.00 payable in 6 payments.  The first payment is due immediately upon acceptance into the club and after that, the monthly payment is due on the 1st of each month.  Appendix C in the contract spells out what the total club season cost of $1,590.00 covers.  Appendix B in the contract spells out what is not covered by the total club season cost.

The "National teams" are the U-16, U-17, and U-18 teams.  The contracts for these teams are identical and the total club season cost is $2,250.00 payable in 6 payments.  The first payment is due immediately upon acceptance into the club and after that, the monthly payment is due on the 1st of each month.  Appendix C in the contract spells out what the total club season cost of $2,250.00 covers.  It does not cover the players' airline ticket cost, their portion of the hotel room cost, and transportation for rental vans for participation in the Dallas tournament as stated in Appendix B in the contract.

Update for tryouts:  A new Waiver and Release of Liability form was added in our Handouts section and will need to accompany the athlete's tryout registration form.

There is some new information posted on our club web site under the Handouts section.

1. Letter to Parents and Athletes regarding tryout information.
2. Tryout Registration Form - you must print this form and fill out in its entirety.  The waiver portion must be signed by the athlete's parents and/or assigned legal guardian in order for the athlete to participate in the club tryouts.  No exceptions will be made due to legal and liability issues.  Bring your filled out tryout registration form to our check-in desk at tryouts.  The form will be checked for completeness, your $20.00 tryout fee collected, and then the athlete will be assigned a tryout number to participate.  I would recommend you arrive at least 30-45 minutes before the tryouts begin to beat the crowd.

Club Wahine is happy to announce their 2009 - 2010 Tryout Schedule.

Here are some further details regarding the upcoming season:

1. The cost for the individual teams and players will be posted shortly.
2. All practices will be held at Mount Rainier High School.
   • 2 practices per week
3. Play in 2 tournaments per month from January through May 2010.
4. Plan is to have 1 team at the U-13, U-14, U-15, U-16, U-17, and U-18 age levels
   • The U-13, 14, and 15 teams will be regional teams and will play their tournaments in the greater Seattle/Tacoma areas
   • The U-16, 17, and 18 teams will be national teams and will play their tournaments in the greater Seattle/Tacoma areas, the PNQ National Qualifier in Spokane, and either the National Qualifier tournament in either Dallas, Minneapolis, or Reno

I wanted to keep our Club Wahine Ohana (Family) updated on Wahine player Jennica McPherson from Kennedy Catholic High School.  Jennica plays on our Wahine 18 Black team.  Jeannica was diagnosed with a cancerous tumor on one of her lungs and underwent surgery this past Monday.  The surgery was successful to remove the tumor and also to use the less invasive VATS method (Video-Assisted Thoracic Surgery) which will speed her recovery.

From all our Wahine Ohana, we want to wish Jennica a speedy recovery and look forward to welcoming her back on the volleyball court soon.  Our prayers are with Jennica and her family during this recovery period.
