The track and field program provides an opportunity for our youth to compete regardless of their abilities...And, the more they compete, the better they become. They meet other young people from throughout the world. Club Elite is committed to teach the correct basic skills of running and conditioning which are the foundations for all competitive sports. The club stress scholarship, and insist that our youth look at athletics as a means of obtaining a higher education.

Elite sprinter Keenan Brock selected to 2009 USA World Youth Team

Elite member Keenan Brock and a senior at George Washington Carver High School - Birmingham was selected to the 2009 USA World Youth Championship team this year. He is presently in Italy.
Keenan will be running the 200 meters and the medley relay. He is the first member of the USA Youth National team from the City of Birmingham.
Siddell Freeman of Club Elite and Morganne Phillips both of Shades Valley High also competed at the USA World Youth Trials on Tuesday and Wednesday. Freeman the USATF Alabama Association Intermediate Boys Champ was a finalist in the 100 meter dash. Phillips who clocked a personal best 400 at 53.89 in May, competed in the girls 200 and 400 meter dashes. However, she did not make the finals.
Brock placed second in the 200 meter dash and after a terrible start placed fourth in the 100 meters. The World Youth Championships take place on July 8 - 12.

Former Elite standout Williams is 2009 SEC Champion

Former Club Elite of Birmingham disciple LaKeshia "CeCe" Williams, a standout sprinter for the Auburn Tigers became an 2009 SEC Outdoor track and field champion as a freshmen.

Williams, the anchor leg on the Auburn women's 4 x 100 meter relay ran down the field of SEC sprinters to capture the crown as champions. In her earlier competition, Williams race to a fourth place finish in the 400 meter final. She competed in the event, due to her coach, Henry Rolle reguest that she provide productivity in the event.

LaKeshia Williams will also be competing in the 2009 NCAA Championships held in Fayetteville, Arkansas this week. She will be competing in the 4 x 400 meter relay. At the NCAA regional, Williams posted an opening leg timeof 52.10 seconds to allow the Tigers a second place finish to defending champions LSU Tigers. The 4 x 400 meter team is ranked number 2 nationally.

The NCAA Championships will be televised live on CBS Sports on Saturday, June 13th at 12 noon until 2:00 pm.
