Clinton Touchdown Club: Coaches Corner

Team Objectives
YOUTH DIVISION

TEAM OBJECTIVES

1. Teach and drill the concept of how individual positions contribute to the team's effectiveness.
2. Trial and error approach to determining best combinations of individuals for defense, offense, and special teams.
3. Teach fundamental rules, safty, and running plays with emphasis on blocking, positions, and gaining first downs.

SEASON OBJECTIVE

Establish foremost a attitude of doing the best possible at all moments. Take pride in accomplishing that regardless of the record. Winning is important, and will be a goal, but will be balanced with giving the players exposure at the level they can handle. We intend to enjoy the experience and have fun.

PLAYING TIME

IN closer games, the better players will play more, but all players will be played. First year players will play less than returning players unless an individual is mature beyond his peers. The discretion of coaches or league rule infractions may result in reduced playing time.

INDIVIDUAL OBJECTIVES

The players all have different levels of maturity, desire, fear, and confidence. Football is a sport that can build self-confidence and an assertive outlook within a player. It can also be daunting. Some players are ambivalent - the coach will work with this "chemistry" and be guidedby it. At this level, coaches are teaching disciplines of belonging to a team and living with rules. Players must listen to follow instructions, and work very hard to make progress as individuals among peers.

JUNIOR DIVISION

TEAM OBJECTIVES

1. Position skills are advanced and refined. Blocking and tackling skills and drills are more intense.
2.Individual skills and size will have more determination on starting and backup roles. Returning players may have more competition from new players coming up from the youth team, but generally the returning players will play more.
3. Plays and special teams will be more varied and complex.

SEASON OBJECTIVE

Competitive results in the league will be emphasized more than in the youth division, but pride in giving the best effort 100% of the time will continue to be the foundation.

PLAYING TIME

The more mature and skilled players will dominate the playing time. Attendance, motivation, attention are important factors in player improvement and playing time. The discretion of coaches or league rule infractions may result in reduced playing time.

INDIVIDUAL OBJECTIVES

Players at this level are still trying to determine if they like the sport and value it enough to work for the starting positions. Competition is intense than in the youth division. Coaches will naturally spend more time with those individuals who are more serious and working harder.

SENIOR DIVISION

TEAM OBJECTIVES

1. The team goal is to be competitive in every aspect of the Game.
2. Individual skills in executing fundamentals of the game along with the players' abilities to collectively execute offensive and defensive plays will determine starting roles.
3. More complex plays and special team plays become an intricate part of the game in preparation for high school football.

SEASON OBJECTIVE

Emphasis is on achievement, showing pride, and always putting forth maximum effort.

PLAYING TIME

Players who demonstrate positive attitude and advanced skills will determine playing time. Attendence and good work ethics are also necessary. The discretion of coaches or rule infractions may result in reduced playing time.

INDIVIDUAL OBJECTIVES

This level is more mentally and physically demanding on players. Players at this level should have a dedication to the sport with expectations of continuing at a higher level
