Canes Get Worked, Then Do Work

On Tuesday night the Canes had a double header at the legendary Robert Moore Stadium in glorious Scotia, NY.  Game one would be against the Bonded Bombers and game 2 against the Valentines Mets.

Game 1:

The Canes sent Steve Huneau to the bump for his second appearance of the season to battle Eric Schwind of the Bombers.  Huneau coming off his best performance of his Canes career said “Last game was in honor of Chad Fahy, he taught me everything I know”. Huneau would give up 2 in the first after back to back walks and a Joe Curcio double. The Bombers would strike again in the second with a lead off double by the younger Ciarmello.  The Canes would finally get their first hit when Kyle Babie would double down the line but the Canes would leave runners on in scoring position as they do best and plate no runners in the inning.  Huneau would have to hand the ball to Scott Rader in the 5th due to a work commitment, but as he was walking off the field he told Rader “Make Jeff Walsh proud.”  Rader would do his best but struggle to find the plate making way to 5 runs in the 5th for the Bombers after 3 hits and 3 walks.  The Canes would finally get a run across the board when Panza led off the 6th by getting plunked and scoring on a Brian Hoffman double.  Schwind would shut the Canes down the rest of the way and pick up the W.

Final Score Bombers 8 Canes 1

POG: Eric Schwing 7 IP, 5 Hits, 1 ER, 3 HBP, 4BB

Game 2:

The Canes and Mets would play game 2 under the awesome lights, and Jason “Jigga Jay C” Cornell and Andrew Rose would take the rock for their perspective teams.  The game would fly through the first 3 innings and it looked like they would play a full 7.  The Mets would score first plating a runner in the 2nd after back to back walks and a FC RBI by Lou Dodge.  The Canes would finally wake up in the 4th when Scott Rader would hit a 2 run Ram Lama Ding Dong to left.  Hoffman and O’brien would reach after the HR and be moved along by a sac bunting LeMorta. E$ Solomon would double in 2 more run and Jigga Jay C would bloop a remix single to left to help him self in the “rap” game. The Canes would add on 2 more in the fifth after BJ Roberts would walk and Scott Rader would hit his second Whipadedo Da Bana of the game, oh wait due to the lack of sun at 10PM the umps missed the ball going into the trees and Rader would only get a double and Roberts would advance to third where he’d have a great view of the car that hit his during game 1.  Roberts and Rader would eventually score making the score 7-1.  Cornell would stroll through the game just like he was in the booth with P Diddy with some good defensive plays behind him.  The Canes would score 2 more insurance runs (Insert Sales Pitch by me, but seriously call me for cheaper insurance) in the 6th after back to back walks and a Quentin Jensen pinch hit double and Scott Rader single.  The game would be called in the bottom of the 7th due to our 12 year old curfew and the Canes would get the Win.

Final Score Canes 9 Mets 1

POG: Scott Rader 3-4 (1 HR, 1 2B, 3 RBI)
