The 2009 CDMABL playoffs began Thursday August 6th at the Clifton Commons.  There would be 2 series in round 1 the Albany Black Sox (3) vs. the Scotia Cyclones (6) and the Colonie Knights (4) vs. the South Troy Cudas (5).  This would be the first year that both the Black Sox and Cyclones would each make a playoff appearance. 

Thursday August 5th; Clifton Park, NY

Both series would begin at 6 pm at the Clifton Commons in Clifton Park NY.  The daylight wouldn't last for either game and both games would be stopped in a tie 8-8.  All 4 teams would finish this game Saturday prior to the 2nd game of the 3 game series. Saturday

August 8th; Amsterdam, NY

11 am

Game 1: Cudas 7 Knights 8 (Knights lead series 1-0)

Game 2: Knights 4 Cudas 14 (Series tied 1-1)

2 pm

Game 1: Cyclones 7 Black Sox 8 (Sox lead 1-0)

Game 2: Black Sox 6 Cyclones 9 (Series ties 1-1)

Sunday August 9th; Amsterdam, NY

With both series tied 1-1 each team would play the final game of the series Sunday August 9th.

11 am

Cyclones 10 Black Sox 14 (Black Sox win the series 2-1)

2 pm

Cudas 7 Knights 2 (Cudas win the series 2-1)

Congratulations to the Albany Black Sox and the South Troy Cudas on winning their first round series of the 2009 CDMABL playoffs.   

The Black Sox will be taking on the X-tribe in the semi-finals beginning on Tuesday night August 11th at the Clifton Commons.  The South Troy Cudas will be taking on the Capital City Canes in the semi-finals beginning Wednesday August 12th at the Clifton Commons.

This is the first playoff series win for the Black Sox and the X-tribe who had a first round bye will be ready for Tuesday night.  The X-tribe has made the semi-finals the past 3 years in a row falling to the Knights all 3 times.  Both teams are looking to make their first Championship series.

The Cudas and Canes are no strangers when it comes to post season play.  The teams have faced each other the past 3 years now, usually in the opening round.  Both teams are also looking to make their first Championship series in team history.
